We have stayed in many great city hotels but NONE of them will be as fondly remembered as Palazzo Magnani Feroni. From the moment you arrive and are welcomed with warmth and charm, you know you have arrived in a very special place and feel as if you have stepped back in time. We had the most magnificent room with the original frescoes from the 1500's on the ceiling and walls. The suite was huge by any any standards with its own private patio. There is a CD player in every suite with a selection of CD's as well as satelite TV. We were provided with Bvlgari Toiletries in the bathroom as well as slippers and a robe. When you arrive in your room you find a box on your dresser with a selection of fragrances. When you have made your selection, you are provided with handmade soap in the fragrance of your choice. We found this a lovely touch of luxury. There are complimentary coffee in various places throughout the Palace with a very good selection of teas and coffees. In the afternoons there is freshly baked cake to have with your coffee. They provide free Wi-Fi to guests. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. the room is serviced twice a day and at the evening turndown you are given chocs and a bottle of water. Take the time at least once to have sundowners on the rooftop terrace with the view of the setting sun over Florence. We recommend the Diadema wine produced by the owners of the Palace on their farm in Tuscany which you can enjoy with the complimentary snacks. Consult the list of tours and excursions in your room. We were very impressed with all the tours and excursions at reasonable rates available through the concierge. All in all what impressed us most was the spirit of generosity of this hotel. Elsewhere in Italy we were charged for water, coffee, Wi-Fi, snacks. We will return to this magical place. It was so different from the chain hotels that might be good but usually forgettable. You will never forget Palazzo Magnani or its wonderful hosts and staff.

Room Tip: The Junior Suite has original frescoes on the ceiling and walls.

it was may 2nd time to visit italy when I stayed in this hotel with my husband... at first , seeing the entrance hallway, i was not sure if i want to stay there for a couple of days, because it looks dark , old , scary and very silent... i am more of a modern type of person... but my husband was the one who booked it because it says its very close to the center of florence and the price was reasonable...

anyway, we were greeted well by the staff, and since then, my awkward feeling towards this hotel was changed... indeed the hotel is centuries old , you will notice it everywhere, and it seems there are no
people working because it's very quite... but the excellent service of the staff especially in breakfast, made me feel VIP which i dont usually get from modern hotels i have been to...i was delighted by the "heart" form over my cappuccino made for me by the waiter who was charming and kind... which i always remember until now, he deserves a raise...i cant remember his name but he is from the Philippines he said... the bathroom was always clean and organized, the room service employees were very warm, they make you feel like you own the place and not just a customer, and bar though was not so attractive but the bartender was very friendly...

the "old" became "classic"... i had a wrong impression, this hotel is "Classic"... now, i learned to value service, and not just the looks...

when you stay in this hotel, you feel
like you have another house in italy...like an ancestral mansion..truly a place to remember and a nice place to go back to...

thank you palazzo magnani...

I stayed here for 3 nights in May. The room was in a very quiet location with beautiful with frescoes over every wall and on the ceiling. There was also a private courtyard outside. The room was cleaned twice a day with a turn down in the evening. The breakfast was extensive and was served from 7:30 to 10:30! A bonus to those of us who aren't early risers. The rooftop bar was a delight with wonderful views over Florence. There were heaters and blankets too for when it was chilly.

The only negative I could see would be a room at the front of the hotel. There is a very noisy bar opposite which stays open late. Mine was situated on the courtyard and this was totally silent.

A wonderful hotel with exceptional service.

Room Tip: Don't choose a room at the front of the hotel.

Just book it!
What an amazing Palace in a stunning city. I took my girlfriend there for her 30th birthday and have only just returned to the UK :( . An extraordinary 16th Century palace in a wonderful location. We stayed in an amazing suite called the Angelica with the 'Romeo&Juliette' balcony overlooking a beautiful little courtyard. It met all expectations and more.. the service was warm and welcoming, the rooms are magnificent and the location is fantastic and easy to walk to from the central station. Ponte Vecchio is just round the corner and we discovered a cool little bohemian live music venue just outside the palace. A Magical Palazzo in a timeless city. Book it now.... I also recommend you walk up to Piazzale Michelangelo at sun set..unforgettable views of the city - all the photographs you need to take are here!!!!

Wow! This hotel was simply outstanding. I'm not sure what was better, the hotel alone or the pampering by the hotel concierge's staff, including the owner. It seemed like they couldn't do enough for me, which of course is the frosting on the cake. As to the accomodations: we had an enormous deluxe suite with a courtyard view. It had to be close to 900 sq. ft. Best of all was the luxurious charm of this hotel/ palace; even the ceilings were rediculously high. As to the location, it's certainly central enough, only 5 minute walk to all the museum action with charming little shops and resturaunts everywhere. Although crowded at times, Florence is one of the most charming small city's in all of Europe. I would definitely recommend this hotel. I like the hotel, the staff and the location. Best of all, you get true old world luxury without having to mortgage the ranch. I loved it.

This hotel is amazing. Huge rooms, nice furnishings, ceilings at least 25 feet tall in the rooms. You feel like your living in a palace. The staff is just wonderful. They happily arranged our daily activities...from a restaurant referral to arranging a day trip to Tuscany that included horseback riding for our daughter whist we toured wine country. The guide that they arranged spoke perfect English and provided a very nice car and great knowledge of the area....Breakfast, the bar and room service all excellent. Right by the river and an easy walk to almost anywhere.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Palazzo Magnani Feroni is an historical home that for over five hundred years has been at the centre of Florence's aristocratic life: one of the oldest dwellings in the San Frediano neighbourhood, it has stood as an important symbol of the city's history and its artistic value. The class of this elegant renaissance palace, evident upon entering, finds its maximum expression in the sumptuous suites and the luxurious hospitality quarters, furnished with candelabra, statues, paintings and frescoes form the '500. Each suite reflects the refinement of the Renaissance style, with the subtle combination of comfort and modern technology and decorated with tasteful antique furnishings and materials originating from the owners' ancestors' antique collection. Spanning between 80- and 120-square meters (860- and 1300- square feet) in size, the 13 suites each comprise a large living room, bedroom(s) and master bathroom(s). Each includes all amenities expected of a five-star luxury hotel, including stereo, satellite television in both the living room and bedroom, internet port and self-regulating air conditioning units. An architectural jewel of the 16th century, the Palazzo Magnani Feroni belongs to the National Register of Historical Monuments of the State of Italy. Detail and ornamentation characterises the building throughout, surprising the wanderer with frescoes, vaulted ceilings and intricate wood-carvings. The Renaissance decor prevails in this palace of traditional Florentine lay-out. Breakfast, for instance, is served in a 160-square meter salon with hand-crafted wood ceilings illuminated by a large original Murano chandelier. In the winter evenings, this salon serves as an intimate, candle-lit Bar, accessible to Palazzo guests and their friends only. The same rules are applicable to the adjoining Billiard Room, as well as to the In-House Gym, so as to assure the guests with absolute privacy. The beautiful Roof-Top Terrace offers a breathtaking view of the city and houses the Palazzo Bar as soon as the temperature permits. Providing 24-hour Reception and Service, the Palazzo Magnani Feroni is run by a staff dedicated to meet your every need with efficiency and discretion, both prior, during and following your stay. Services include reservations to exclusive restaurants, recommendations of typical local eateries and trattorias, coordination of privileged entrance to the city's museums, airport / train station pick-up, private shopping tours, visits to the Ferrari Museum and private, chauffeured excursions to the beautiful Chianti valley. Also, Palazzo guests choose from a selection of CDs, DVD films and soap fragrances for their suite, as well as benefit from private Guides to shopping and restaurants off the beaten path, personally written by the owners of the Palazzo for an "insider's view" of Florence. ... more   less
