We found this hotel in the Karen Brown guide and then proceeded to check reviews on Tripadvisor. We chose this hotel on the basis of the reviews, and because my husband band I were travelling with our daughter, we reserved the junior suite at what turned out to be a lovely hotel--a nineteenth century building that has been beautifully renovated. This is definitely a 4-star hotel, but because it does not have a restaurant, it is rated as a 3-star. I really don't know where to begin--our stay was very comfortable. The setting of the breakfast room and terrace provided a lovely space to begin our day. The buffet was tastefully presented in a buffet style. There was a choice of breads, sweet rolls, juices, capuccino, tea, a marvelous choice of fruits and yoghurt, ham, cheese etc. Our room was modern and had every ammenity we might have needed. The bed was comfortable and my daughter said the sofa bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was huge, with a separate shower space, a jacuzzi tub--plenty of hot water. I highly recommend the junior suite. It was pleasant to have so much space during our stay. In the evenings we enjoyed wine and hors d'oeuvres on the roof-top terrace. There were areas with lounge chairs and umbrellas for reading after a day of sight-seeing. The location of the hotel is close to the train station as others have mentioned, and close to major sights. We had a lovely stay at the Orto De Medici and would definitely stay at this hotel again. I would like to commend the members of an excellent staff. You made our stay in Florence even more memorable.

This hotel had, by far, the best, most interesting common areas of a three week holday through Europe. A modern lobby, a nice breakfast area with outdoor seating option on a lovely patio. Our room had a brand new bathroom, but retained it's original flooring. The room could use updating, but it was still comfortable and quiet. The front of house staff was pleasant. We walked from the train station - which I don't completely recommend in the heat :)

Dear Guest,
thanks for your feedback. Summer is hot in Florence, but it's one of the most popular period in Flroence for evening and night life. There are a lot of performances, music shows and special events. Italian especially love to have the "aperitivo" outside, from 6 to 8, like on our "Music Bar".

We stayed in this hotel for two nights in June. We had fully paid our room in advance, advising the hotel we would be in our honeymoon. The hotel's location is superb and the first impression you get from the reception and lounge area is one of wide open spaces and modern italian design touches. Sadly though, we believe we were probably given one of the worst rooms in the hotel, in the second floor, right next to the breakfast area and hallway bathroom. Although clean, our room was small and very dark, with views of an interior service patio. It was as if the hotel's architect had forgotten to renovate our room when the rest of the hotel was updated. At night, due to our proximity to the breakfast area, we could hear the hotel staff laying down the cutlery on the tables and wiping the glass panels and windows... at 3am! After a month of travelling, we can confidently say that our room was by far the worst room we had during our honeymoon. We will not stay there again.

Dear Guest,
Thanks for your message.
I checked your reservation and found out why we could not offer any upgrade for your honeymoon, as we usually do. You came during the Pitti Uomo Trade fair ("Fashion week"), which is the busiest, most difficult (and most expensive) week for turism in Florence. We are sorry we could not offer you a nicer room, but in those days we usually have returning clients who come year-by-year, reserving their favourite rooms with a lot of time in adavnce. Whenever you are coming to Florence (not for business pourposes), I really recommend you to skip the fashion weeks: on at the beginning of June, one in mid-January. Coming one week earlier or after will ensure you a muche better experience of the city.

We loved our stay in this small and friendly hotel. Our room (45) was on the top floor and had a balcony that gave us a view of both the lovely courtyard and the Duomo. The staff was excellent, fluent in English but tolerant of my poor Italian. Excellent breakfasts, and a terrific location.

I stayed in Orto De Medici five years ago and liked it so much we returned as a family this June. In the time since I first visited the hotel has undertaken renovations, especially to the lobby and with the addition of new suites.
It's a wonderful hotel!
It is centrally located (we walked everywhere) and the staff are friendly and very helpful. The hotel has a unique ambience as befits its name.
My husband booked us into one of the new rooms (a birthday suprise!). It was huge and very comfortable! It had lots of hanging space, a large luxurious bathroom, wi-fi internet access and view of the courtyard garden.
We booked on the hotel website which we would recommend doing.

Very nice place overall. This was my first time traveling to Italy so its hard for me to compare to others but overall satisfaction was good. Being from the US, i expected a little bit cooler AC, at least a couple of english channels on TV (one in lobby, CNN). We had one of the new upgraded rooms so it was modern in style. Bathroom was very nice and roomy. Internet availability was ok, had to keep getting code and password from front desk every couple of days. Terrace in afternoon was very nice with wine and olives. Had a difficult time adjusting to time difference, so if we were not up for breakfast in AM, we couldn't get coffee unless we went across street. Location was central, walking distance to everything. Only negative I had was late one night/early AM hours we came in from having cocktails and the doors were closed and locked. We had to wake the night desk person who was not to happy. After he let us in, the internet password had expired so i had to "wake" him again to ask him for password. His reply was, "right now???" This was upsetting because the night before, i ran across street to get some wine asked him if i could bring him anything back, which he asked for a Coke and of course I did and then acts like the next night i was bothering him. Overall this is a great place and good value!!!

Dear Sir,
Thank for your review. They are very preciuos to improve our business. Do you remember which room you were in? This is because every room has at least 3 satellite channels, including CNN, so I need to check the TV. As regards the free Hi-speed wi-fi we have passwords lasting 2, 4 or 8 days, so I'm sorry if we did not match all your stay lenght with it. During the night we lock the door for general safety of the guests. If you come during the night you can ring the bell anytime and a person will be there to open to you. Don't worry to "wake" him up, he's there just to help you, it's never "bothering". :-)

Set away from the hustle and bustle and noise of the tourist centre of Florence but a only few minutes walk away from all the main sights this lovely hotel was a real find. The room was large and modern overlooking a peaceful garden. Breakfast was good and we could sit outside in the sunshine.
The staff were friendly and really helpfull with plenty of suggestions for good places to eat.
