My husband and I spent 8 nights at the end of October visiting our daughter who was a student for the semester at the Art School SACI. We spent much of our trip walking as the hotel is in the center of so many beautiful districts of Firenze. We walked to Santa Maria Novella train station to travel to other towns. We walked to Piazza de San Marco to take a bus to Fiesole, a town at the top of a mountain overlooking Firenze. We took a tour to Cinque Terre, a string of quaint fishing villages built into the cliffs on the coast near Liguria. From the hotel we walked to the Duomo, across Ponte Vecchio to the picturesque Boboli Gardens and Palazzo Pitti, to the Piazzo de Signoria where there are many statues to admire, to many museums and cathedrals, to the Mercato Centrale and the leather market which are both just a couple of blocks away in the Piazza de San Lorenzo. Every morning we had a lovely breakfast at the hotel, sometimes sitting out in the garden at tables when the weather permitted. The staff was pleasant and helpful, especially since we struggled with even the simplest italian phrases. Our room, bathroom and balcony were clean, comfortable and charming. I can't imagine a better hotel to stay at while visiting Italy.
