Stayed here in July 12 for 2 nights. This hotel is dated and well past it's best. It's tired, shabby and filthy, and filled with bored, un-interested staff! There are stains ALL over the carpets, the paint is peeling everywhere. The service is abominable and I dare you to use the antiquated lifts! The bathrooms are horrid, with clinging shower curtains, and please don't use the complimentary toiletries, as they smell like rotting food! The corridors are covered with dirty blue carpets, with stains everywhere. The whole place needs repainting too....all of the corridors are filthy with dirty walls. It's vile, just vile. Must dont stay here! Plenty of better options in Florence!

Room Tip: There are NO good rooms here.

I booked this hotel via priceline 9 months before my arrival in June 2012, and after learning this was my hotel I was concerned with the reviews i read on trip advisor, the hotel worked well for my needs. Located behind the U.S. Consulate, it is a 15 minute walk to the Duomo, many restaurants are nearby. Amando's restaurant a bit touristy but great foodand prices.... Room 106 was very large. The staff were very helpful. The wifi worked well in the lobby but not in the rooms which got old quickly. I paid 150 us dollars per night on priceline fyi. The pictures make it look awful but it is not as bad as they appear. The bar closes early!!

Room Tip: high ceilings, big bathrooms

Stayed here in June 2012 for 2 nights.
The first room we were given had air conditioning that didn't work, so we asked for a new room. After some serious 'negotiation' with the desk staff we were eventually given a new room.
The second room had air con that worked reasonably, but we found later that the mini bar did not work!!
Both rooms were clean enough, but very tired and grubby.
Breakfast was very ordinary.
We paid 160Eur per night. A price of less than half of that would have been reasonable given the issues and state of the rooms.
Location was good, and we found a gem of a restaurant 'Paperorosso' in the street behind the hotel. Would highly recommend the restaurant, but avoid the NH Anglo American.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while in Florence. We loved the fact that it is within walking distance to all the sights without being part of center city Florence. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and accommadating.

We spent three nights in this hotel during our recent visit to Florence. This hotel is nicely placed, very close to the train station, not in the heart of old city but within a walking distance from all the main attractions. In fact we just walked thro the city without much trouble. The front desk is very warm and helpful. We reached hotel at 3 AM due to flight delay and the receptionist was almost waiting for us. Rooms are very spacious, nicely decorated and well maintained. The breakfast had several options and even though my wife is vegetarian, she still enjoyed the same. In all, it is an excellent cost effective option than expensive city centre hotels if you are willing to walk a bit, which in fact Florence is all about.

We pricelined and got a basic room. I requested an upgrade through email prior to our arrival and they were very accommodating. We took an option for $5 more a night for the mini bar. The room was very spacious and exactly what we needed. Most of your time was spent in Florence and it was a short walk to the main area. We recommend even though its nice to have the window open for the nice summer breeze that you don't. The Mesquitos take a liking to the tourists. The breakfast they offer was basis. We realized that in Italy, breakfast is not the most important meal of the day. So if your room comes with breakfast, just realize it's not like breakfast buffet in the states. We could have done without the construction at 6am but the overall experience was positive. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We learned from our first trip abroad that you must read more that just a few reviews to make an accurate assessment of any property.
