PROS: This hotel was fabulous! Very modern and clean, the staff were very helpful and made dinner reservations for us at a restaurant nearby and it was seriously the best meal I've ever had in my life!!!!! Air conditioned, elevators and the breakfast buffet was adequate. The best part was that it was very close to the train station so we could drop our bags quickly. And it had a tv in the bathroom mirror!!! Hahaha we were quite surprised about that one!!

CONS: Our shower leaked, it was fairly new looking, just poor design. That's seriously the only bad thing I can think of, we really loved this hotel.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel, close to the main train station, for a conference I was attending. Overall, this is an excellent place to stay for those (like us) who needed proximity to this part of Florence (the conference was minutes away by foot). The hotel has one of the best breakfast buffets of any hotel I've stayed at. The room was neither small nor large, just right for a couple. The TV was flat panel and attached to the wall (a mini version was also in the bathroom). When first encountered, the room seemed somewhat bizarre, like a movie director's version of a 22nd-century hotel, with open closets and decor, and a strange-looking bathroom. However, over time (after the first day), everything seemed quite natural and lovely. We had a great view of the city on a relatively quiet street (only an occasional tram, with no automobiles). The staff were super friendly and helpful, and were able to sort out a mixup in the reservation (length of stay was listed as 5 nights instead of 6). They also changed our original room because of a noisy neighbor. The second room was nicer than the first. My wife was happy because: (1) there was a tea kettle in the room (her notion of a first-class hotel), and (2) BBC news on the TV. Overall, a great place to stay at a reasonable (though not cheap) price.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 4th floor, where we had a good view facing on the main street. Ask for a room on th...

Nice location, near the railway station, good price, the only negative thing is the sound of tram. The staff is very gentle speaks very good english, the breakfast was quite good.
The staff suggested us a very very good indian restaurant, Haveli ,that is very close to the hotel (2 minutes walking). I suggest this hotel to indian tourists!

My boyfriend, Dave and I, Natasha stayed at Hotel Londra in Florence for 2 nights during our Italian vacation.

We chose this hotel due to its central location and close proximity to the Santa Maria Novella Central Train Station and car rental companies. We arrived to Florence by train and departed by rent-a-car.

The hotel was conveniently located a short (approximately 650 foot) walk from the train station. Hotel lobby was spacious and modern. We booked a Classic Double Room, which was nice, clean and comfortable. The room also had a mini-refrigerator and a balcony with a lovely view.

Room price included an impressive breakfast buffet that included many cold and hot options, juices, coffee selections and even Champagne for your mimosas!

Hotel was located within a walking distance or a short taxi ride away from the attractions, restaurants, bars and shops in Florence. Note: In order to avoid long lines and sold-out situations, make reservations for sights like the Uffizi Gallery and The Academia, where they keep Michelangelo’s “David”. Seeing “David” in person surpassed anything we saw in books or could have imagined. Do not miss the opportunity to see this spectacular work of genius! Consult the hotel concierge regarding reservations for the attractions.

As everywhere in Italy, restaurants are expensive. Some offer an attractive prix fixe menu, but beware of drink prices even for water and non-alcoholic beverages and remember that refills cost the same as a new drink. Check before ordering. Once, we failed to do so, and were charged 24 Euros for iced teas!

Tuscan food is delicious and open-air restaurants in the piazzas are very charming. For the most amazing gelato try Vivoli Gelateria just off the Piazza Santa Croce. This famous, crowded, hole-in-a-wall gelateria serves the best gelato we have ever tasted!

Florence is beautiful, a place you must visit during an Italian vacation, and Hotal Londra is a great, centrally located option.

I choose this hotel because it seemed to me by reviews and photos that it was a good value for the service.
It was not. I've been in some 2* hotels like IBIS that were significantly better than Londra.
I arrived at the hotel and was placed in room 104. The room was horrible. It smelled bad and the wc was aweful. The worst was the door to the next bedrom. The next day at 07h00 my "neighboor" turned the tv on and it was just like if he was in my room....
I complained in the recepcion. They then proposed to move us to 111. We took it. The room was very small and there was tobaco smell.
The sounds from other bedrooms was very loud.
Breakfast was ok but there was not a great choice in fresh fruit.

2nd room better but still very small - single rooms are generally small in Italy.
It was clean, bathroom was ok
Good buffet breakfast
Not good walking area-have to cross some busy streets to get to the center of things

We booked a modern room based on the pictures they showed on booking.com, hotels.com, venere.com. So when we checked in, we got the shock of our lives when we entered the room on the 5th floor, the room was old, with a gross red dirty carpet. The bed was squeaky and lumpy and the bed covers were old. It also smelled of smoke. When we complained about the room, they told us we didn’t specify about booking that we wanted a new room. Hello, they never showed the old rooms in their website. Apparently half the rooms in the hotel are renovated. But they don’t mention that in their website. We demanded to be transferred to a new but the old man at the reception asked if we were willing to pay? Hello, Pay because we wanted to transfer to a new room which is what we thought we booked in the first place. They said it was impossible to move us as the hotel was fully booked. The next available room would be in 4 days. My husband threw a fit at the front desk, other guests started noticing, So the manager told him “ok,ok, we might have an available room and gave him a key to another room. We checked it out, low and behold, it was the new room we saw at the website. But another warning, it’s nothing great as well. The photographer did wonders with the photos of the room that’s for sure. The beds are lumpy and the linens were eeky. And as for the Free Wifi they provide, they provide a cable which is really really short. Oh the key of their rooms are a ratty dirty Tassle, eekk. I hated touching it. The staff is not helpful. And the Location, FAR Away from the main center, it’s a 15-20min walk still to get to the Santa Maria Novella Area. So many other hotels in the heart of things at the same price range or even better priced. The good reviews you read here must be those that we’re given the new rooms and thought to themselves, We will make do. But trust me, if you want to enjoy your vacation, stay in another hotel. I wouldn’t stay here again even if you payed me!! – Tina M. Gonzalez
