The room was okay and the staff nice enough but it seems hotels have cottoned onto charging for wifi. It was €5 for an hour, €10 for 3 hours and €20 for a day. (We were charged similar in Venice) The main problem with this hotel is it's not just a "walk into town" like they said and the walk back at the end of a day is exhausting. There are buses to the main station but unless you like a hike, stay closer.

I have traveled four continents and stayed in a large array of hotels varying from 3 to 5 star hotels. This is the absolute worst experience I have ever had. The ad said free internet, when we got here they insisted we had to pay illogical amounts for a simple amenity such as access to Wi-Fi. The room and beds were a lot smaller than most, the breakfast was decent but they have something strange going on with the restaurant. I asked in three language about the possibility of dinner in the hotel restaurant and got a very confusing reply about only groups. I also found this location very far from major attractions and usually required a bus. The rooms are extremely noisy and you can hear neighbors, traffic and TVs quite easily. There are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity. I was extremely disappointing with this hotel and I will never stay here again and I highly recommend one fellow traveler to another that you do not either.

Room Tip: JUST AVOID THIS HOTEL. Florence it to beautiful to deal with problems from a place like this.

Overall I was very impressed with the front desk staff at all of the places I stayed in Italy, including Hotel Meridiana. They were very helpful in answering all of our questions and helping us get set up for a Tuscan wine tour. We walked there from the train station, but it took longer than we thought. Especially if you have a lot of luggage it's better to hop on the 1 A/B bus instead.

I was thoroughly pleased with the cleanliness of my room and the bathroom. I enjoyed a nice hot shower after coming from a hotel that didn't always have hot water! The breakfast was also satisfying. The location of the hotel was great because it was central to lots of tourist attractions. It was basically walking distance to every place I went.

We traveled to Florence via the 'bullet train' from Venice and upon getting into the train station, we took a bus to the hotel --- bus number 1 to the Cionfo Binlecure stop (it should appear within the bus on a sign) and then walk in the opposite direction you came from and it will be on the right hand side. You could also take bus number 17, but you would have to walk much farther -- if you have not been here before, take bus number 1.

Upon walking in, you will notice that it is not new, but not an older hotel either. It has an updated foyer and there is more than one elevator. Note that you will be required to pay a VAT (city tax or value added tax) for each night you stay there.

The room we stayed in was on the third floor, which mean it is actually on the fourth floor... We had a nice few from the back of the hotel and it was very quiet.

It was mentioned before that the breakfast was lacking any type of meat(s), but this is typical for Italy, bread with some cheese or butter spread is the norm. If you want a significant breakfast, lunch or dinner, I suggest going somewhere outside of the hotel.

Here are a couple of recommendations when traveling to this hotel:

1) Bring your own bar of soap as the soap provided is a packet of liquid.
2) Bring your own shampoo and/or conditioner, what the hotel provides is not enough.
3) Understand that this is an older hotel and it may or may not have a bath tub -- our room did not have a tub, but it did have a wonderful shower and the bathroom was quite large.
4) Bring water back with you at the end of the day or you can purchase water from a vending machine.
5) There is wifi access in the lobby only and it is quite expensive, I would look for a cafe for free wifi.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cheap, affordable hotel. It was easy to get to, the staff was friendly and it was relatively close to everything or you could take a bus from a nearby bus stop.

Lastly, I stayed there December 1st - 2nd and the weather in Florence was very comfortable (cool at night) and it was not crowded at all...

Room Tip: Upon checking into the hotel, ask if you can have a room that doesn't face the street and is not...
