“The best location and service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2014

What a wonderful wonderful hotel we found in Florence! I was in Florence with a girlfriend and we were so pleased with the location! The hotel is from the early 16th century, it's just beautiful, check out the WC just near the reception, it's like it's in a small cave!
The staff could not do enough for you, they were so helpful and obliging, in particular we need to mention Valentina who was just a delight, she was so lovely, nothing was a problem for her. Also Francesco and Baldassarre were also so helpful! The breakfast was great, the beds were comfortable and the location was perfect!
If we ever visit Florence in the future, we would only stay at The NH Porta Rossa!

When we checked in, the clerk told us that this was the oldest hotel in Italy. My heart sank because I had visions of dank, dark rooms with peeling plaster. What we found, however, was luxury and elegance -- chic and modern -- all in a great location. Our room was quite spacious with nice linens and a lovely, very clean bathroom. Strange that there were no bathrobes in the room when we arrived, but I called down and they were immediately delivered. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. Very nice selection. Only issue was street noise. We had a room at the front of the hotel and were awoken each night by partiers yelling in the street. No fault of the hotel, but perhaps a room in the back would have been a bit more quiet. The pictures on the hotel's website -- unlike some others we have encountered -- are absolutely accurate.

Room Tip: We had a room on the second floor facing the street. I would suggest asking for something away from...

This is a great hotel, with a lot of history, terrific location, sumptious breakfast and exceptional staff.

The one, and *only* negative for us was the internet connection. It was effectively non-existent, even when opting for the 10€ (daily) non-free, upgraded service. This may be dependent on your room location (another guest echoed my problem while I was checking out, though), and unless you are "tethered" and expect to be able to upload photos and such, it is a minor detail. However, I believe it's a flaw in an otherwise wonderful hotel that they should address.

With that nit aside, we had a very nice room with a great street view, and walked everywhere on both sides of the river with ease. Even with a street view it was quiet. The staff was always helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ponta Rossa. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th (top) floor, and while the room was great, there was a bit of a feel that this fl...

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights the first weekend of June. So happy we followed the trusty TA reviews as we were very pleased with our hotel choice! Another couple travelled with us and they were just as pleased.

The location couldn't have been any better for us! Near the shopping and sites, but tucked away just enough. The walk to/from the train station was easy (about 8 minutes). The hotel is beautiful and the staff couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. Our standard room was tiny but clean and the bed was comfy. Used the small espresso machine each day and the blow dryer was top notch. The breakfast set up was fantastic and we sat in the bar both evenings and the bar tender was quite nice.

Followed the hotel's recommendation for dinner on the first night (which we don't usually do) and had an amazing meal at a restaurant just behind the hotel on the corner.

We will stay at the NH Porta Rossa again!

My husband and I stayed at NH Porta Rossa for 6 nights in April. It was a terrific choice of hotel for several reasons. The central location made it easy to return for a rest break in the middle of the day; our room was spacious and comfortable (luxurious even); the staff were without exception courteous, efficient and helpful; and the breakfast buffet offered everything we wanted.

Very comfortable, clean, and large rooms, beautiful hotel, and very kind and helpful staff! Best breakfast we had while traveling in Italy. Lovely bar area, centrally located in Florence to everything! We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you to Baldo and staff for making our stay so pleasant.

We had the chance to stay for 3 nights in this wonderful historic hotel perfectly located to visit this amazing city. Only 10 minutes walk from the main train/coach station and 5 to 10 minutes walk from the main attractions. We had booked a deluxe room but were upgraded on arrival to a junior suite on the second floor. The room was really spacious and nicely decorated with a great walk-in shower ensuite. Bed very comfortable and plenty of room to store luggage and pieces of clothing. The room was divided in a bedroom and a sitting area , both having their flat screen TV. Free Wi-fi worked brilliantly using a 24hrs valid code. We found the staff really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plenty and delicious. We loved everything about our stay in Florence and can't wait for the opportunity to return to this perfect hotel!

Room Tip: Avoid standard rooms as they are on the small side. Deluxe rooms and above are great.
