tucked away in a cute little alleyway, this was a great find in florence. it's in a nice and safe area of florence and plenty of people walking around at night time. close to everything it was the convenience that mattered. first impressions were good, the lady at the desk was attentive and upgraded us to the junior suite. we stayed 3 days, we missed out on a day of breakfast but they organised coffee and a little take away bag at 5am before we caught our train!!! that's dedication. furthermore, they gave great recommendations for food. and last of not all, just a short stroll over the bridge to the best gelati in the world :)

We booked this place through Expedia for a 3 night city break to Florence.

The hotel is on Via Porta Rossa, a posh street that runs through the centre of old Florence about 10-15min walk from the main train and bus station. All the main sights are within walking distance with lots of restaurants , bars and shops on your doorstep.

The hotel is a tastefully modernised old building that retains some architectural highlights. Check in was swift enough and we were offered a junior suite upgrade for €15/night - junior suite was nice enough but probably not worth having the extra living room living space if you are a couple and plan to be outside for most of the day.

Anyway , the room was nice enough - mix of modern and some 'antique' style furniture.

Bathroom was nice enough but I would have expected more. The extra junior suite space would have been better used for providing a luxury bathroom - freestanding bath and separate rainforest shower. Anyway , it was nice enough, clean although extractor fan didn't work.

Wifi in the room is SLOW and you cannot stream movies - need to buy the 'premium' wifi which still isn't very fast.

Breakfast was a nice spread and the fruits especially were very tasty. Nice coffee.

Price was reasonable through Expedia but not particularly cheap.

We were 2 couples staying in this hotel. Our friends upgraded their room on arrival but we chose to take what we had paid for. They put us in the mezzanine section which involves a lot of stairs up and down. The room was fine when you got there. Breakfast was included and very good. Wifi was spotty as it seems throughout Italy. I had written before we arrived that it was our friends 30th anniversary and nothing was ever mentioned.
The two things that made the hotel were the front desk staff and the location. I would try somewhere else next trip

Great hotel with very nice rooms and very friendly/helpful staff. Perfect for a city break. Excellent location - 2 minute walk from designer shops, most major sights within 10-15 minutes walk.
TIP - If you travel to Pisa (well worth it), take the train (8 Euros/40 minutes) and 5 minute taxi the other end.

This hotel is near everything while being in a very quiet space. It is beautiful with updated modern rooms. The staff made our stay perfect! Supposedly it is the oldest hotel in Europe…each floor has a different lobby area. We were on the top floor in the back….a bit noisy early in the mornings…garbage emptying, etc. Internet is a bit of a trick…you need a new password for each item every 24 hours. The breakfast was delicious. Perfect location!!!! Would stay here again.

Room Tip: It is obvious they have quite a variety of room types. Our friend's room was very small but the...

My husband and I spent almost a month touring Italy for our honeymoon and we stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Upon check-in, we were pleasantly surprised that they took note of our honeymoon and upgraded us to the Junior Suite (Camera "Amici Miei") which was very spacious with very high ceilings.

What we LOVED about this hotel:-

1) Location - Fantastic. Walking distance to all the must-see attractions in Florence.

2) Breakfast - Great selection of food.

3) Service - Reception/Concierge was very friendly and helpful in assisting us to make restaurant reservations and book a private driver to take us to the outlet stores and pretty much wherever we want to go.

Room for improvement for the hotel:-

1) Sleep quality - Our Junior Suite faced Via Porta Rossa and the noise on the streets are channeled and somehow amplified in our room. Thankfully we were very tired every night from all the touring and fighting with the hordes of tourists daily that we didn't have too much problems falling asleep.

2) Quality of service - Service was great, no doubt about that. However we learnt during our stay that the receptionist doubles as the concierge and at one point, he was also the bartender preparing drinks in the restaurant! So we spent 15 minutes waiting at the reception which had no one attending to it. When we went walking around looking for someone to help us out, we spotted the bartender of whom was busy preparing drinks. Later on, it was the same guy who helped us out at the reception making restaurant recommendations for dinner and making our reservation for us! Wow! Praise to him indeed for wearing 3 hats at once.... but surely the hotel can improve on human resources?

Overall, a good hotel with a fantastic location. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and we would definitely stay there again for our next visit to Florence.

This was a great hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Especially the front desk staff.
The location was great and breakfast each morning was very good as well. We are told this was the oldest hotel in Florence which was kind of fun. It was very clean and very well kept.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Great location.
