We had to travel to Florence for a family funeral. Our main concern was to be close to where we needed to be. Friends had stayed here in the past and said it was fine. It was just that, fine. No frills, excellent location, clean, within walking distance to our relatives, the church, the bus line and some very quaint neighborhood cafes.
My main complaint was that there is no separate shower. It is a handheld shower head in the bathroom where everything else is. Also, the room is small but we weren't in it for long so that wasn't a concern.
When we visit our relatives in Florence again, we may stay there. The price certainly was reasonable. They offer a free continental breakfast from 8 AM-10 AM.
They take VISA, but I strongly suggest you bring Euros with you (something we had no time to do) since even the bank soaks you with the exchange rate.

The hotel is styled in the manner of a mansion house, with a marble staircase, paintings/portraits on the walls and busts adorning the passageways.

Rooms:
Our room was of reasonable size and was clean and comfortable, if a little cold. They did provide an extra radiator, but there was only one space to plug it in, meaning we would have to choose between charging our electronic devices or using the radiator. Our downstairs (basement level) room looked out onto a little garden, which would've been very nice in the spring/summer.

The shower floor had a few marks where the paint seemed to have worn away and on close inspection some corners of the bathroom looked like they could do with an industrial clean.

The walls of this hotel must be very thin indeed - they could do with some soundproofing. We could hear the comings and goings of guests (and the doorbell!) and being near the breakfast service area, could hear the breakfast preparations going on.

Service:
The front desk clerk was very helpful in giving us maps, directions to and from the town centre, suggestions for restaurants and list of museums and galleries that we may like to see. We had also left our luggage at the hotel before check in while we went to the town centre as our room was not ready yet. When we got back, our luggage was already in our rooms. Well done to you for that!
However, housekeeping consisted of making up the bed - they didn't even attempt this on one of the days! We used some cutlery from the breakfast area one night and this wasn't even taken away the next day, and neither did they check that we had enough toilet paper.

Breakfast:
This consisted of croissants, bread, ham, cheese, jams and chocolate spread as well as cereals. Not a massive variety to choose from, but was fine for the cost.

Getting into town:
Buses to the town centre are quite frequent and the bus stop is just around the corner. The trip is about 10 minutes and tickets can be purchased at the parking machines.

Other information:
Parking, despite what I read in another review, DOES cost money!! It is 1 euro per hour from 8am to 8pm (except for Sundays) - on street parking, using a pay & display system. Although there are plenty of parking bays, most are taken up by residents and non-residents can only park in the blue-marked bays.

The only reason someone would stay in this hotel is because they had to park a car (dont have to pay in the area). Otherwise, I think its a rip off, considering the kind of breakfast they give (very poor, little bit of bread, cold coffees -if the machine's working). Room service was mediocre (they didnt provide toilette paper, shower gels...) So had to keep reminding them. As well, If possible, find something nearer the city (too far)

Gang of families and single friends too stayed at this hotel for a wedding recently, It was basic but clean, we did laugh about the rationing of one toilet roll per room. Having stayed in a few places this summer in Italy this was by far the best breakfast and the nicest fresh coffee. Some of the reception staff missed the customer training course as they were so grumpy it was untrue! others were happy to please! Great location but basic hotel. Would go back again.

A very good hotel for moderate price, in ancient style, with excellent and hearty breakfast, beautiful garden, polite and helpful staff. The bus station is very close to hotel, you can reach the historical center by bus easily, within 8 minutes.
The only inconvenience was that our room was situated right near the entrance and in the mornings we heard all the noise caused by arriving guests. But the room was very good, plumbing was new and in good order.

Room Tip: Don't chose the room near the entrance

We were lucky to find this place as we hadn`t booked anywhere. Domenic was very helpful and we got a great deal for three nights. The room was clean, small and the bathroom tiny but we were able to cope anyhow we didn`t come for the room but Florence.
We found the staff to be very helful and the breakfast a good start for the day. There are plenty of places to eat down the street. The bus was close to go into the centre of the city.
The courtyard very pretty and suited the little palace. Loved the old paintings on the walls.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the front and higher level.

I used to live in Florence for many years and therefore instead of choosing a noisy city centre hotel, we opted out for "out of the city" location with has green areas and many local stores.
It was supposed to be a memory trip for us, which unfortunately due to the low standard of the hotel Ungherese turned out to be a nightmare!
I do not even know where to start:
the room was full of mosquitoes and other insects which is not normal for Florence in October.
During the night it was so freezing (i have no idea how mosquitoes and insects survived) i had to put most of my clothes on and still i was unable to sleep trembling out of the cold.
We could hear every word , not only from the lobby but also from a room next door due to the big whole under the door which also brought so much light into the room you could even read with light off in the room.
Not to mention a space which was supposed to be a bathroom. The shower was literary over the toilet spraying in all direction so everything including the toilet paper any any clothes you would bring with you, got wet.
The cherry on the cake was the breakfast. I asked for a cappuccino (parlando in italiano!) and i got a milk with some tasteless coffee with no schiuma.
Although we made a booking for some days, we basically ran away from the hotel as we couldn't stay there any minute longer... It took us some time (and additional money spent) to find another hotel in the city center but we wanted to keep our good memories of Florence, which the Hotel Ungherese almost destroyed.

Part of this enchanted surrounding, the hotel is a typical palace of the early 19th century. This hotel is a good choise for business travellers and also for tourists fascinated with the unique beauty of the art and architecture of Tuscany's main city.Antique furniture and pictures enrich the interiors of this most characteristic hotel, which has preserved the name given to it by its founder, a Hungarian gentlewoman whose historical memorabilia are still displayed in the halls: the coat-of-arms of the house of Austria and Hungary, the portraits of Prince Ferenc II Rakoczi, Hungarian hero and Elisabeth of Wittelsbach, the Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary famously known as Sissi. Our hotel is only a few minutes bus or car ride away from the historical centre of Florence, and just a short distance from the Campo di Marte Railway Station and the main sports venues of the city, such as Artemio Franchi Soccer stadium and the Palazzetto dello Sport, venue of the Nelson Mandela Forums; also from Hotel Ungherese, the Saschall Tent Theatre can easily and conveniently be reached, and the same can be said for reaching the Foretezza da Basso, which is the venue of conferences, trade fairs and shows.
