I wish I could give this hotel 10 stars. We visited Barcelona, Florence and Rome during our trip and this was by far our favorite hotel out of the 3. I was traveling with my husband and 3 kids so we had two rooms. They were great - clean, comfortable and a great little balcony to stand on. We were greeted with fresh biscotti and wine in our room and were given a coupon for a complimentary drink at the bar (We got Prosecco my kids got bottled water). We were also given a smartphone to use during our entire stay which helped us to save money on using our US phones while there.
This property was about a 15 minute walk to the Duomo and center of town and it was quite a pretty walk too. We loved walking along the riverfront to and from attractions.
Breakfast was great. Lots of fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, meats, cheeses and fresh ground coffee. My kids loved the pool. I was not expecting much given the size and some other reviews. It wasn't very big but it was perfect. Lovely breeze and views on the roof. We would explore all day and come back to hang out between 4-6 before getting ready to got out to dinner. My kids loved swimming and we loved taking a dip and then getting a drink from the bar (which opened at 4:30). Towels and little neck roll pillows to lounge around there were provided.
But what made this above and beyond great was the staff. Everyone was so nice an so helpful. Upon check in, I think the woman's name was Delores, we had the best experience. She gave us the cell phone, explained the room and area, gave us a map and drew routes and suggestions by hand and then gave us a business card with the hotel name and address to show cab drivers. This really came in handy since the majority of taxi drivers didn't speak English very well. I would stay here again as this was a big part of why my kids loved Florence. I wish we had chosen one of the NH hotels in Rome. Had I only known...
