Had I known this hotel was near the railway station I would not have booked as my experience is that areas around stations are often seedy. Not in the case of Florence though where the location is an asset. As we were flying via Pisa we took the train to Florence so it was great that the station was only 3 minutes walk. The hotel was never more than 20 minutes walk from anywhere we wanted to go. The Duomo is only a short stroll. I requested a quiet room on a high floor and got what I asked for. The room was a decent but some of the furniture and fittings are perhaps a bit dated and tatty round the edges. The breakfast was good and plentiful with generous timing up to 10.30am. The best part of this hotel was the staff. All very friendly and professional in a genuine way. The staff alone would make me want to return.
