“Love the view and the location of this hotel”

Romano at the Concierge was very accommodating on our stay in Florence. We had a big spacious room with the balcony view across from the Arno River and Michelangelo's Square. The views outside our balcony were great especially when you are sipping wine in the Florence evening dusk.

The breakfast was good as well and the staff is very attentive.

Only down fall was the bathroom, which was outdated and the hard bed in the room. The bathroom really needs some color its very simple & outdated. Most of the hotels in Italy have hard beds.

Room Tip: Room tip: If you book this hotel you must get the balcony, it is not worth while if you don’t have...

As this is an old building, the rooms vary in size. But they also show varying standards of furnishing. The first room we were shown was dingy and old - a bit like your old aunt's spare bedroom. It had a tiny 14 inch cathode ray TV, the like I haven't seen for 20 years. We challenged it and were shown to a smaller but more modern room. Certainly not worth the astronomic rates this hotel charges, but better nevertheless.

I thought the location excellent and enjoyed the breakfast buffet.

I don't even know where to begin. Was it the broken shower that burned me or the rancid breakfast buffet. The hotel was an outdated and below standard travesty. I am absolutely shocked about all the wonderful reviews, because I don't sense that they accurately embody this hotel.

This was our favorite hotel in Italy. First, the setting is spectacular, the rooms spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. There were a few minor things that were insignificant (i.e. broken plug in bathroom), but nothing that detracted from our experience. The lobby is beautiful and the breakfast included delicious. Our room had large windows with a fabulous view of Arno River. Our triple room was a 2 level that gave a spacious feel with the queen bed being upstairs; our 16 year old daughter loved her private space on the lower level. The location was within walking distance to downtown museums, shopping and restaurants. The staff was so warm and welcoming and readily gave us recommendations for several restaurants that were fantastic & within 15 minutes walking distance of the hotel. Florence is beautiful and the hotel was a fantastic retreat at the end of our busy days.

This hotel is amazing. I loved everything about it but especially the staff, they were lovely and so helpful. The rooms were beautiful, the breakfast was amazing and the view outside our window was so lovely of the river. I would definitely recommend this place it had everything you could want and more.

First the pros. This was a classic Florentine hotel. The room was kept nice and pretty clean. The air conditioning worked very well too which was great because it was very hot during our stay. The breakfast was pretty good too although the eggs were hit or miss unless you like them runny. The staff was also accommodating.
The cons. The biggest drawback was location. I would NOT call this "steps" from the Ponte Vecchio as advertised. It's a good 15 minute walk. Which in 90 degree temps can be a lot. The leather market and "David" museum were 20 minute plus walks and we are in fairly decent shape. It's not unbearably far but take into consideration when booking. Also the WiFi in the rooms was spotty at best. Great that they offer it but can be frustrating to have to sit on the toilet to use it. Our maid also cleared my loose change out of my night table. While it was less than €1, I found that disturbing when we were staying another night she felt I was leaving a tip! Finally we had some ants in our room. We alerted the staff and they did put down some traps. This kept the ants at bay for a day but then the ants returned. That was our last night so we did not say anything again.
All in all this was a nice hotel we would consider again but the distance would make us think twice.

The location was fantastic and the hotel was very charming. The breakfast was good and the restaurant service was very attentive. The room was great for the price and the bathroom was old but functional. The front desk was very accommodating (with all of our request and questions) and friendly. The view from the room was outstanding and overall, it was a superb experience.
