“Old world Italian charm”
Reviewed December 8, 2012 via mobile

Have stayed here many times for business. Stylish, and rather old fashioned (in a good way). Rooms are variable in size but all good quality. Those at the front have a great view along the river. Breakfast is very good, and if you choose to eat here for lunch or dinner you will not be disappointed. Great location, only 5 minutes walk from Santa Croce, but not absolutely in the dead centre of town if that matters to you. About 10 minutes brisk walk to the Duomo.

This is a really nice hotel. Old school charm and service, good food in the restaurant. But you'll probably want to eat dinners out. They have a great breakfast. Our room had a view of Santa Croce that was just spectacular at night! And the service is impeccable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the side away from the Arno and you should have a better view.

Second time staying at the Luccessi and enjoy the clean upscale european style hotel. Very good staff. Free WiFi, great concierage, and excellent service. Nice linens and confortable beds. Nice balcony on the fourh floor rooms overlooking the river. Booked a triple room for three and actually have two connecting rooms wirh two bathrooms. Very nice!! Small showers but hot water and many hotels lack that. Great location to downtown. Mant very good restaurant nearby!!

Website depicts lovely views of Florence and bedrooms. Single travellers are presumaby deemed to be second class citizens judging by the size of the cupboard I was given to sleep in. Reception told me this was a standard single room. Single bed right up against wall so I could hear next door drawing a bath each morning. Water from the bath taps was brown for a few second presumably room hadnt been used in a while. No face clothes/no clock in this luxurious 4 star hotel. The view was a stairwell consisting of other internal windows. A chair was mysteriously added to my room on my second night there - dont know why as no room for it.
One concierge helpful regarding where to pick up taxi the next day due to marathon being run in front of the hotel. Unfortunately he was not on when someone else suggested I pick up a taxi from an imaginary stand at a roundabout on the other side of the bridge
Good location though

After a long flight from Australia, we were greeted warmly by reception. We caught a taxi from the train station, which is around 13 Euros. I liked the hotels location, it wasn't too far from the main attractions, yet had a charming feel about it. Breakfast offered a varied selection. Our room had a lovely view of the river, but never heard any noise from the busy street below. We did eat dinner at the hotel one night. It was expensive, but the food was wonderful. Well recommended.

Room Tip: Request a room looking towards the river

good location, good breakfasts, spacious room and bathroom - plumbing a little old. faded splendour - but that was fine. Did not expect restaurant to be closed on Sun night when we arrived - did not see that mentioned anywhere on website. think 4* place should have facilities every day. Dinner menu did not cater well for vegetarians. Hard to get a relationship going with concierge staff - so many different people.

Room Tip: pay that bit mor efor the river view rooms

Really like the Lucchesi.
Good location, a little out of the centre of things, but that suited us fine. Noticed it has it's own car park, which must be a bonus in this city. In the Friday rush hour it was a 15 Euros taxi ride from the station. Overall about 15 minutes walk to the Duomo.
Check in went well. Very friendly and everyone spoke excellent English. Bell hop took bags up to room.
We were up on the 3rd floor in a superior double room. Very clean and spacious, with a lovely wooden floor and view of over the river. Bathroom had just a shower, quite small and a bidet. Plenty of toiletries etc.
Very small TV in room with a very limited range of channels - only English one was CNN. Very good free wifi, but a rather laborious password system for every log in.
Breakfast was included in the deal and was great - fresh fruit, juices, cereals, usual continental pastries and cold meats/cheese, then scrambled eggs, bacon and local sausage, plus loads of coffee. All buffet style.
So overall a great find of a long weekend. Charming and elegant. OK it is not a modern boutique hotel, but we really enjoyed staying there and would go back.

Room Tip: Overlooking the river is great, but if you like the window open be aware traffic starts quite early...
