Yes, the general tenor of the recent reviews captures this hotel well, and we enjoyed our September five nights' stay there. The property itself is beautiful, with all marble, tastefully furnished public areas, and good-sized, well-appointed bedrooms. The breakfast is ample and diverse, as good as we experienced in other 4* or 5* properties in Italy.
The area is a quiet one, but close to both the Arno and the SMN station. There are good restaurants close by. The downside of the location is that the 10- to 15-minutes' stroll to the historic centre of Florence was more taxing on my 70+ year old arthritic knees than I would have liked, but for those without such a constraint the location should not be a challenge.
My only other minor grouse was that (unlike my experience in any other hotel on this trip) access to the free WiFi for some reason required having a Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Gmail, Yahoo, or other account. Again this is probably not a problem for many people, but in my case it required a little inconvenience in resurrecting the password for an old, infrequently-used gmail account.
All in all, a very pleasant stay in a good hotel. Good value for money.More
