The Pitti Palace has so many museums and so much to see that it really is a worthwhile half day attraction. We found the quality of artworks here to be very high, and clearly very well maintained. There are collections of home wares, porcelain, silver, in addition to paintings and sculptures, and also royal apartments and the historical costume museum. There really is something for everyone, and it is all of a very good quality. In addition to all the museums, the Boboli Gardens are lovely to walk through. There are shady spots where you can sit and take a break, perhaps have a picnic lunch. Alternatively, there is a cafe/bar in the main courtyard where you can take a break.

We used the Firenze card which is good, because you just convert it to one ticket for the various museums.

Make sure you look up here, some of the ceiling artistry in the palace is some of the best I've seen anywhere.

This time I visited the Palatine gallery and modern gallery. It was in my opinion more enjoyable than the uffizi gallery. Less crowds and the rooms in which the gallery is set are truly amazing.
Would highly recommend.

We bought tickets, 20 euros each, to see the opera in the grounds for a 9.30pm concert. It was atmospheric, cultured and it felt so authentic to see an iItalian Opera in Florence. Well remmended.

The Pitti Palace is an art museum. There is beautiful art, handmade tables, and sculptures displayed in many rooms. It was the original home of the Medici family who ruled Florence for about 300 years, so the place, although plain looking from the outside is very elegant on the inside. It is big, so plan to spend more than one hour if you want to see it all. I enjoyed the displayed art, but I enjoyed traveling the rooms once lived in by the Medici's more. Little signs posted in each room explain what the room was used for and whose it was. There is a café in the entrance courtyard and a gift shop as well.

We were looking forward to being in this garden after watching a BBC documentary on Italian Gardens. The entire garden was unkempt, dry, neglected and nothing at all like we had seen in the DVD. We felt totally disappointed and to be perfectly honest, quite ripped-off.
