The Pitti Palace has so many museums and so much to see that it really is a worthwhile half day attraction. We found the quality of artworks here to be very high, and clearly very well maintained. There are collections of home wares, porcelain, silver, in addition to paintings and sculptures, and also royal apartments and the historical costume museum. There really is something for everyone, and it is all of a very good quality. In addition to all the museums, the Boboli Gardens are lovely to walk through. There are shady spots where you can sit and take a break, perhaps have a picnic lunch. Alternatively, there is a cafe/bar in the main courtyard where you can take a break.
We used the Firenze card which is good, because you just convert it to one ticket for the various museums.
Make sure you look up here, some of the ceiling artistry in the palace is some of the best I've seen anywhere.
