Yes, this is a small space and it can take a long time to get it. But if you know the incredible history of the space oft is worth going!!! Such a fantastic space and incredible history

Its' very beautiful indeed, but it;s just a small building (it will take you around 10 minutes to see it all?) and the three of its impressive doors are in the museum next door anyway.
We almost ran out of time and almost didn't make it here, but glad we found time the day we left. Despite the tours taking up a lot of space, we were able to see everything and got pictures of all the ceiling so we could look at them later without the neck pain :)
Although the outside of the structure was definitely beautiful and unusual, we wanted to check out the interior. Stepping into the large, dim chamber our first evening in Florence, we remarked to each other that nothing was very impressive... until we both looked up! The gold mosaic dome interior took our breath away. There is no way to capture in a photo the overwhelming glorious wave of emotion that rolled over us. The famous doors of the baptistery have been replicated, but the originals are worth seeing in the nearby Museo del Duomo.
The incredible ceiling of this octagonal building is made of mosaics of Venetian glass. Created in the late 1200s, the mosaic ceiling told the history of the world in images. In the first half of the fifteenth century, the Battistero was adorned with bronze panel doors, created by Ghiberti. The famous doors now contain replicas of the panels but they are stunning to view. The originals are not far away in the Duomo Museum
1/3 of the inside walls are under wraps and restorers are doing what they do best, however we arrived the same time as the crane so the inside was noisy too. Great ceiling art
