Another beautiful example of great architecture, although it is also an impossible "must see" to visit inside due to the queues.

Inserted on the same architectural style as the Cattedrale and the Campanile. the Battisterio has however one quite unique feature to it. Its doors. Made out of bronze, reproducing major biblical sceneswith a skill meanwhile vanished from among us, they are considered mankind`s patrimony. So, my suggestion is that you take a couple of hours to visit the whole group, that is, the Battisterio, the Cattedrale with its Duomo, and of course, the Campanile, and once that is done, from the many restaurants and bars which surround the piazza, chose one suiting you, and enjoy a meal, or just na expresso, or aperitive, while enjoying the view of one of the most beautiful places on Earth. :-)

This eight-sided architectural masterpiece is a beautiful and peaceful setting. I am so glad I visited in the off season so it was not as full as perhaps it could have been. It allowed me to walk the octagon on the floor and revel in the mosaic tilework on the floor and the brilliant golden mural work above. I could imagine baptisms in this place with all the assembled Renaissance beauties...

The exterior of the baptistery in Florence is beautiful, especially its famous doors. But it is also worth going inside, even if for a short time, to see the wonderful ceiling and other decorations. Admission is included in a ticket that covers most of the sights on the main square. We only spent about 20 minutes inside but were glad for the chance to sit on the pews and rest our feet while admiring the interior.

This Baptitry is a 13th century marvel. The mosaics on the domed ceiling are breathtakingly beautiful. It is well worth buying a 16 or 18 euro ticket which covers this, the bell tower! The dome and the Opera del Duomo.
