“Great Hotel in Florence”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

This is the third time I have visited Florence, Italy. Each time I go I make sure to make reservations at the Kursaal Ausonia Hotel. The price is great and it is right in the heart of Florence within walking distance to all of the key sights. Paola is the owner and she is also a tour guide for the city. She is a wonderful hostess. The breakfast in the morning is better than most hotels that I stay in when I travel to Europe. I would not consider staying anywhere else when in Florence.

This was my first trip to Italy, and I didn't know what to expect for accommodations. I thought this was an excellent hotel! It was very clean and was within walking distance to most of the activities we wanted to do.The staff were very friendly and helpful and they recommended some good restaurants for us to try authentic Italian cuisine. I enjoyed my stay here very much.

This hotel was a great place to stay! Not only was it very clean, but each room had air conditioning and a hair dryer (both things came in handy!). The breakfast had a good variety and was ready for us when we needed it. I felt safe and comfortable staying there. The employees were friendly and were very helpful with whatever we needed. There was free wi-fi available, which was a plus!

I had a great stay at this hotel. We had a good price for the service that was provided. Breakfast was nice with a huge variety of options. The staff was also nice and could speak very good English; in addition, they were always ready to give us any tips on where to go and how to get there. Some of them were more like a tourist guide than a simply hotel staff.
The hotel is a bit old, but the facilities are okay, even though some improvements and renovations are welcome, especially for the lift, which is rather slow and small.
Overall, the hotel is very well-located and quite close to the major tourist spots, basically within walking distance to most of them. Very close to the Florence rail station, making it easy to get out to other Italian cities.

Don't have two many arguments with the positive reviews here about the good location and reasonable rooms. Except the breakfast is, while varied, overly suite - chocolate in the muesli, fruit juice was flavoured, sweetened, coloured water, croissants and bread heavily sweet.

Some tips:
The hotel has no curtains! You need to use the external shutters which can be closed easily.

The key card to the room safe doubles up as the room-number tag of the key - but you are supposed to leave the key at reception when you are out. If you are using the safe, you can remove this card to take with you during the day, and the reception staff will need to add a room number sticker to your room key so they don't lose it.

The booking promised free internet access (from a terminal - they charge for wifi). But we only got the free access to the terminal after a discussion with the hotel owner who insisted on checking the lastminute website first.
