Description: The close artistic and cultural affinity between Venice and Florence has brought an enchanting piece of the Venetian elegance in the amazing Tuscan capital. The historical Caffe Florian, opened in 1720 in St. Mark's Square in Venice, now finds its natural space in Florence, with the opening of this new and prestigious location where the exclusive coffeehouse and the fine dining meet the Contemporary Art. Part of the private Florian Art Collection is now here on show in a permanent exhibition, Aron Demetz, Mimmo Rotella, Fabrizio Plessi, Gaetano Pesce, Irene Andessner, Bruno Ceccobelli, Marco Nereo Rotelli, Paolo W. Tamburella, Luca Buvoli, Massimo Nordio, Arcangelo and Fausto Gilberti are some of the many both Italian and international artists who, over the years, reated exclusive pieces of art expressly for the Venetian Caffe Florian. And now their works are in Florence, to pay their tribute to the three centuries' tradition of style, elegance and refinement, that made the Florian name a renowned myth all over the world.

Originating in Venice, the Florian is a great place to grab a nice cappuccino and pastry and catch up with your friends. They also have a nice apperativo that contains seafood. It really gives you an authentic feel of the italian culture with its appearace, and staff. Overall, a classy and elegant place!

If you are visiting Florence you are walking everywhere and seeing all the beautiful sights that this historical city has to offer. Take a stroll down Via de Tornabuoni to window shop (because going in would break the bank!) the stores of Prada, Gucci, Ferragamo, Armani, Bulgari, Dolce & Gabbana. Then go find this small cafe. The inviting display of macaroons and chocolates will entice you enter. Sit down on a red velvet cushioned chair and be prepared to be served like royalty. Order anything you would like from milky hot chocolate, steaming tea, a velvety cappuccino, or a silky espresso (yes their coffee is literally that good!!) Try to avoid looking at the display of perfectly designed plates of torta di ricotta (ricotta cheese cake), tiramisu, and Venetian biscuits as you will need to try one! The staff is small the their service is fantastic! Your order will arrive on a silver platter, literally.
Stay a while and talk with the staff, drop in for a quick espresso, come back Tuesdays for a Venetian Aperitivo, or sit and read about the history of the Florian that dates back to 1720 in Venice.
I love that my school is so close to this elegant cafe and that there is WI-fi also! It may just be the atmosphere, service or product I receive there, but I frequent OFTEN!

After a long and tiring day, a plate filled with lively colored macaroons and a cup of tea with orange essence, taken in such a cosy environment change our mood positively. Everything within the store, from silk scarves to Venetian masks can be bought. The waiters are very friendly and it's one of the places in Florence, where they never ask you to leave, no matter what day or time it is...

A friend and I stopped here for coffee and cake when we visited Florence in November last year. My Torta della Nonna was stale and dry and my friends cake was not much better. I complained and after disappearing to consult the (invisible) manager the (very nice) waitress came back and gave us a bag of their chocolates. As the bill was of rip- off proportions I would rather they had taken it off the bill, but as arguing in Italian was not an option, we left it at that. I considered simply not paying for the cakes and walking out, but could not be sure that our waitress would not be penalised as a result.

Caffe Florian is an overpriced tourist trap trading off its name - best avoided.
