“Outstanding Hotel!”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

My sister and I stayed at The Privilege Hotel for 3 very enjoyable nights. Our tv was not working properly when we arrived however the owner (male) promptly switched it and fixed the problem -- all with a friendly smile and conversation. The owners speak English very well. Breakfast buffet was excellent with many choices. They provided us with a detailed street map, booked our taxis for us and greeted us warmly when we would return from our day. The hotel is a short walk from the Pont De Vecchio and the many piazzas (squares). Located in a safe area. I would without hesitation stay here for my next trip Florence!

This is an old-fashioned, cosy hotel facing the river Arno, only a few minute's walk from the centre of Florence.

We got a quiet room as requested ( Italian cities can be noisy), away from the road.
The room was fine, if a little cramped, with a very comfortable bed. The ensuite was tiny, with no bath and a typically small shower. Everything was spotlessly clean.

Breakfast was reasonable - standard continental three star. It would have been nice to get a wider choice of teabags.
The staff were very good; friendly and informative.

When you leave, you get hit with the new tourist tax ; Italians don't like paying tax, so they get their visitors to do it. Cash only - Kerching !

We were very excited about our stay in Florence. We arrived late at night and were greeted by a very friendly male host. He was the friendliest of the two. The woman who works there was not the least bit friendly--we did not encounter her until our first morning. We were told we had a room with a view--it was, but before you reach the view of the river, you see the highway on which you were situated. It was so loud, I could hear the traffic through ear plugs and closed heavy curtains. It made it difficult to sleep.

Again, the man, I believe the owner, was SO very nice, so no disrespect to him for this review. One morning, our electricity went out, and when we merely went to let them know, the female host said "You must have done something wrong." We did not plug anything in other than the tea machine and the "space heater" which they provide as heat. No apologies from the woman.

The next day she corrected me quite coldly on my Italian. Again, when you are trying to learn the language, it is quite disheartening to be coldly reprimanded on your speaking. Our final day, we asked for help with booking an excursion to the chianti region. I sure wish the man was working, because again, the woman was quite "put off" with helping us. I don't know if it's because we are 28 and "not old enough" or what.

Overall, I wish the owner-host (male) was working all the time, because the woman was quite cold and rude to deal with. Very much like night and day---he was warm and helpful, and we truly avoided her at all cost.

On a relative budget, I would recommend this hotel for the sake of the (male) owner, just NOT room 101.

Room Tip: Room 101 was too loud to be enjoyable.

After three months of travelling around Europe from Australia we reached "Hotel Privilege".The hosts Barbara and Emmanuel were so kind to our family and gave us great advice on where to go around Florence. The rooms were spotless and breakfast was fantastic. This was our second visit to Florence and we chose this hotel because of the location initially but then the service. I will recommend this hotel to my family and friends and hope we can one day come back! thanks for a great stay!

Room Tip: river side was a lovely view

Loved this hotel. The hosts were very friendly and helpful ( our Italian has definitely improved with their help) and the room was spotlessly clean and a generous size. The breakfast was the best we've had in Italy with boiled eggs, a toaster and OJ ( not the reconstituted powder most hotels serve) and of course your choice of coffee.

We drove here and found parking a bit pricy,€20 per day ( cash) for valet parking or €36 per day to park on the street between 8 am and 8 pm. Having to pay in cash for parking and room tax (€52 in total for 2 night stay) all but cleaned us out.

The hotel is conveniently located just 10-15 min walk from the main sites. I would unreservedly recommend this hotel especially if you do not have a car.

This hotel is owned and managed by a couple who really cares for their guests; they served a great breakfast buffet, drinks in evening and were always helpful with recommendations for sights and restaurants.

Location is on the river with a short walk to the city centre. We used the valet parking but you can park right outside the hotel.

We had a large family room with all amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. We will not hesitate returning and will definitely recommend this great value hotel for your next visit to Firence.

Room Tip: The higher the floor - the better your view of the river

I stayed at this hotel in the month of July & It was amazing, the best 3* hotel we stayed in during our trip to Italy. The rooms are spacious some of them have a nice view of the river & the Ponte Vecchio. Located at a 5 minute walk from the Piazza Santa Croce & the Ponte Vecchio. The breakfast is amazing & of course the front desk Emanuel & Barbara are very friendly.
I would stay at this hotel anytime :)
