We stayed here for 3 nights in late May.The staff were very helpful with plenty of smiles and good tips.
The room was pretty good with nothing to complain about.
As for the breakfast it was not to our liking very European as you would expect some hot options would've been great.
All that said if we were to return to Florence we would probably stay here again.

This hotel is a gem. Our room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was good and the breakfast room was spacious and not overcrowded.

Francesco at reception was lovely and even let me use his computer to print out, scan and email an important document.

The location is good in that it is near the train station and close to where a lot of tour buses leave from.

We have been to Florence several times and have never really been totally satisfied with our accommodation until we found Hotel City on this trip. It is easy walking distance from Santa Maria Novella (main) train station and also walking distance to Duomo and the main tourist areas of Florence. The room was really nicely furnished, very comfortable, and the staff were super helpful. Breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choices and good coffee. Highly recommended, and we will definitely return on our next trip to Florence.

We found the staff on all shifts to be very helpful and accomodating. The location is very close to the train station and a short distance to the main sights of Florence, estimated 10 minute walk to the Duomo and the center of the city. The rooms are decently sized and reasonably priced for a European city.

A good option for staying in Florence.

Yes, the location was great. The room and bath were very clean, and the bed quite comfortable. But the rooms felt very small for the price, and we found the staff to be rather unwelcoming. We had friends meeting us in Florence, and arrived too early to check into their own hotel. We offered for them to keep their large backpacks in our room for the early afternoon while we all explored the town, and we were given a hard time about our friends so much as going further than the lobby. Was also disappointed that there was no safe box in the room. I will probably search around for another option on my next trip to Florence.

We have just returned from our trip to Florence.
As others have stated the hotel is ideally located - 4 minutes walk from SMN Rail Station (with a suitcase). All the tourist sites are within 20 minutes walk with bars and restaurants on every street.
The indoor market is at the end of the street and well worth a visit for all that is good with Italian food and drink.
The hotel is quaint. We had a warm welcome and although early by 2 hours were given a choice of room.
The hotel has a lift.
We were on the second floor. The room was large enough for two of us, Florentine styling with a large en suite. There was a small fridge, good enough to store your own drinks.
Breakfast was buffet style. The staff were attentive and pleasant. Breakfast had a lot of variety and was of a good quality.
The hotel is paid for on departure and there is a separate Florence Tax of 3 euro per person per night.

In summary an excellent hotel for a short vacation and if we return to Florence, we will definitely stay here.

Room Tip: We had Room 32 which is on the side, over a small quiet street.

Hotel City is a well locationed 3-star hotel near the SMN train station. The staff was wonderful and exceptionally helpful, breakfast was included and very nicely done, and complementary wireless connectivity was also included.

We arrived several hours prior to the checkin time, but were still warmly welcomed. We were given several rooms to look at and choose from before we finally settled on room 21. The rooms themselves were comfortable and air conditioned. The towels were very thick and absorbent, and the maid service was perfect.i

One unexpected plus for us is that they accept the Discover Card as payment, via the Diners Club infrastructure. Since there is no foreign currency transaction fee with Discover, that translated into an immediate savings of up to 4%. A nice bonus.

Bottom line: This is a great small hotel in and near the middle of everything in downtown Florence. We felt very well taken care of during our 8 night stay. I recommend it enthusiastically.
