“Friendly staff, Decent Room, Average Breakfast”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

The best thing about this hotel, in my experience, was the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. I think the hotel is run by a husband and wife (I didn't ask but it seemed this way), and both of them were very accommodating. We received recommendations for restaurants and gelato places, all of which turned out to be excellent. They also took time to mark all of the main attractions in Florence for us on a map they provided.

The room we stayed in was decent - not great, but not bad. The bed situation was two twins, which you could push together to sort of "fake" a double bed. This is something that's quite common in Europe, and that I find a little annoying. Aside from that, the rooms were noticeably old and probably could use some renovating, but overall were clean and comfortable.

The breakfast (included in the room rate) was slightly below average, even for Europe. There were not really any hot options. The only things I personally enjoyed were rolls with some cold cuts, and yogurt.

All in all, I would stay at this hotel again based on the overall value. One final note - if you're arriving by train, it's relatively easy to walk to the hotel (10 minutes) from the Santa Maria Novella train station. Just make sure you have walking directions in advance.

Room Tip: Avoid heavy luggage in general, as you must go up a flight of stairs to get to the elevator.

The Location of the hotel is great quite central very close to both train station (SMN) and all the imp sights but all the good things end there. We booked this hotel for just one night in florence the staff at reception were quite friendly but the room was disappointing with very dated furnishings and bathroom ceiling had mold right on top of the bath also the air-conditioner didnt work properly and was very loud it was more like a fan. The breakfast was quite disappointing as well.
Since we were there only for a night it was it was fine but not recommended for a longer stay.

We read the great reviews but were disappointed by what we got.
It was a terribly hot day in florence, but our airconditioner didn't work properly. On medium setting, it produced a very loud knocking, and provided little cooling. The bathroom wall was smashed and the shower curtain was barely long enough to reach the tub(so the floor got wet easily). Our room was next to the breakfast area, and we heard them setting up hours in advance for breakfast.
The extra person bed was small, but i slept well.
And the location was good and the staff, nice.
Perhaps it was just our room, 100..

Room Tip: Avoid room 100.

We have just returned from a delightful 4- night stay at The Unicorno Hotel in Florence, followed by five nights in Rome.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable trip and the warm memories of our stay at this hotel will last a lifetime.
The owners and staff of this family-run business are courteous, efficient and 'appropriately warm and friendly' - a winning combination!
We were celebrating our silver wedding anniversary and we were given a most beautiful bouquet of roses, together with lovely chocolates and mini- cakes on the morning of our anniversary! It was such a lovely gesture- and entirely unexpected! We were both really touched by their kindness. Thank you !
All of the staff - esp.Elena, her mother, Danielle & Lucia - were just so, so warm and lovely that we feel they became friends by the end of our stay!

Stay in the hotel for 4 days in early May. We booked a 3-ppl room. The hotel is very close to the train station (SMN) and it's quite central to all the point of interests. The hotel does provide a pretty good continental breakfast. That's pretty much the only good things I can say about this hotel. As 3 of us are sharing the room, i was dismayed to find out the hotel room door is still not using the card system. Not only that, but the staff inform me that if one of us took the key out, the hotel room will have no electricity! The room itself looks very dated and very very noisy as buses run pass by right below. Not recommended if you can get your a better hotel.

This is a nice hotel in the heart of Florence - 5 minutes’ walk to the train station, 10 – 15 minute walk to most attractions (The Academia, Duomo and Uffizi Gallery). The rooms are clean and spacious. Great price for the location. Helpful Staff - we had a late evening connection, staff allowed us to store our luggage after check out.

Wi-Fi in rooms is a major plus.I highly recommend this place.

We were for 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay at this hotel - very central and walking distance to everything you could possibly want to see! The rooms are cleaned every day and also fresh towels. Air conditioner worked, breakfast is between 7.30-10 and you have a choice of cornflakes or muesli, fresh fruit cocktail, scrambled eggs, sausages, ham and cheese, croissants, toast, bread rolls, fruit juice and water and coffee. Staff was very helpful, the hotel looks exactly like it does on the website. We would certainly stay there again.
