My wife and I participated in a Wine, Cheese and Olive Oil Tasting at this small shop owned by a husband and wife team. There were only 4 people in our tasting. The husband picked 4 wines and cheeses and meats to accompany the tasting. The choice of wine and cheeses depends on the day. On this day, he picked 4 winners. We had participated in several tastings while in Italy this trip but none of the previous tasting presented the quality of wines at reasonable prices that we tasted today. The meat and cheeses were perfect accompaniment to the wines. Also was a discussion on the Tuscany Virgin Olive Oil and there difference in tastes with 2 samples. The other participants agreed that this was a must-do event. The shop also serves food. We had a couple of sandwiches which were very tasty. Finally, we left with a bottle of wine from the tasting.

This little shop is next to a market of affordable trinkets and leather. We grabbed lunch at here on a break from our Florence In A Day Tour. I had a Tuscan salami sandwich with Tuscan prosciutto, cheese, and a pear jam - it was delicious. We paired it with a Moscato, because we had been searching all over Italy for the perfect Moscato. It was also delicious by the way. If you are unsure about your wine pairings, ask for Livio. He is a little shy, but he knows his local wines very well! He helped me pick out the perfect Chianti Classico for my father. Overall, a great location to try and learn about local wines and foods.

This was our first meal in Florence, right next to the San Lorenzo market, and it was a delicious delight. I had the Mostardino, a Tuscan ham, gorgonzola cheese and fig mustard panini sandwich and my companion had the Cacio e peer, a Tuscan ham, percorino cheese and pear jam panini sandwich. The bread is different than that found is US panini sandwiches and I think, much better. We had some house red that went well with them and a big bottle of still water. The total tab was 16 euros. A great value and better food than in other spots for double the price.
There are outdoor seats and some tables inside. We shared the long marble table with 6 young Italian couples who were ordering up a storm and obviously having a great time.
A note here about the service. This is what I think of as quintessentially Italian, more interested in the experience than efficient service. If you are looking for quick service rather than a leisurely lunch, you might want to choose another spot.

We stopped briefly here during our stay in Florence - the food and wine sampled was very good. The proprietor is very knowledgeable and hospitable, the location is great if you combine it with a visit to the craft market.
