Hotel Roma is in a good location right on the Piazza Santa Maria. It's far enough from the train station and the Duomo so you don't hear the noise of those areas, but just a quick walk away for both. Room was very spacious, and had a huge bathroom. The hotel staff were very helpful in making us reservations and finding us a wonderful restaurant right around the corner. On the weekends there is a fresh food market in the piazza which is a very impressive spread. Definitely plan on checking that out!

Excellent location/very near train station; nice and clean room and bathroom; nice staff; good breakfast-fruits, cereal, breads, pastries, coffee; biggest disappointment was that hotel information site said it has air conditioner but it didn't explain that it can't be turn on from November to May. The Hotel told us they can't turn on their central air conditioner because the Florence government authority don't give them permission to turn them on until May 2011. Ha. The reason being the increase in air pollution. They told us the temperature was cold outside, so no need for A/C. But with windows closed it is not that cold inside the room. So we decided to open the window of the hotel at night to sleep. Now, second problem: since it is near the train station, you will hear all night noises from people getting in/out of the train station-(remember that window is open due to no air conditioner) making this very difficult to sleep. Additionally, construction-repairs were being done in front of Hotel so heavy noise after 7:00a.m. Now, I don't mind all this, but if hotel will NOT have A/C available they should explained this in their site-so you can decide if you want to go to this type of hotel or not.

Room Tip: Ask whether or not A/C can be on when you go there

We thank the Guest about the good evaluation for most of our services as well as for the Hotel location.
Regarding his disappointment for the air conditioning, we can only stress that we are always obliged to respect the local government Authority rules. These rules prevented us from the opportunity to turn on air conditioning, in a period Hotels in general, don’t need air conditioning.
Construction Repairs did not depend, of course, on us. Anyhow we pointed the problem out to the local authority.
Works are no longer in progress presently.
As noticed by the Guest, the hotel is very centrally located. Such a kind of location, can be, sometimes noisy.

We want also point out that however we apologize for the drawbacks happened and for the unsatisfactory stay by us.

We really hope the Guest will visit us again in the future, assuring him our best efforts to make his stay as much as possible pleasant and satisfactory

The hotel is in a great location being just 5 minutes walk from the train and bus station. The room was very spacious with a really lovely shower room. Unfortunately there were a couple of things that let this hotel down. As mentioned in other reviews it is in a very noisy area and we were kept awake by lots of shouting and rowdiness from outside the hotel till around 3am every night (this was midweek as well so goodness knows what it is like at the weekends). The hotel staff were polite enough not very friendly . We tried to get a drink from the bar on our last night but although it was only just before 10pm we were told the bar was closed. Having stayed in a 3 Star hotel in Rome just before staying here which was excellent in every way, it was disappointing that this hotel didn't live up to expectations.

The hotel is located right on Piazza Santa Maria Novella. It is very close to the train/bus station and the center of Florence.

We stayed in room 421 which was very spacious, more than a usual hotel room would be. It was clean and had many amenities. On the other hand, the decoration was a bit old fashioned - you could tell that this must have been a great hotel 20 years ago...

The staff was not at all friendly, we even had to wait for about 5-10 minutes for them to finish talking to each other, before they bothered to look at us.

All things considered, it was a good hotel and I would recommend it.

The staff were helpful and cheerful, especially in the breakfast room. Close to cultural sites and many excellent retaurants (It is perfectly located with a great view of Santa Maria Novella, if you are in a room facing the street). Clean room and comfortable bed.
