Anyone staying in Florence should not quibble about the extra cost -- stay in what is truly the heart of this impressive city and enjoy modern comfort! Live entertainment in the piazza at night, views of the Duomo from the bedroom and the best gelato shop in the city around the corner.

The hotel is stunning and looks stunning! Has history. Rooms were spacious and clean. Location of the hotel is very central and therefore easy to get to e.g. the Uffizi (5 minute walk), Ponte Vecchio (approx 10 mins walk) and Accademia Gallery (approx 15 mins walk). Service at reception and concierge polite, professional, courteous, welcoming. Ambience superb. Breakfast extensive variety of foods. Did not eat at hotel's restaurants so cannot comment. Would stay here again.

Exceptional hotel - great location - right next to main (astounding) Cathederal Santa Maria del Fiore.
Central for many of cities main attractions and only 10 - 15 mins walk to main train station (Santa Maria Novella - Firenze) where you can get incredibly reliable, clean and cheap trains to virtually anywhere else in Italy. (look on Trenitalia website for details)
We visited Pisa and Lucca (beautiful) in one day with ease and no stress - Florence to Pisa 7 euros each, Pisa to Lucca 3.30 euros each and return from Lucca to Firenze SMN stn again 7 euros... our trip to Florence from our first hotel stop was from Verona where we flew into the main airport (went to celebrate my wifes 50th birthday) the train trip down to Florence took one change at bologna centrale station and was again totally stress free.... 2nd leg on the new high speed red bullet trains (Frecchia?) bit more expensive but just excellent and very quick.
Staff here at hotel are fabulously welcoming and incredibly helpful - conceirge was brilliant and restaurant staff the same - nothing too much trouble.
Buffet style breakfasts (default) are more than adequate for most with lots of choice buffet style but included bacon, sausage , eggs & tuscan beans for those who like hot food (more complex cooked options available to order at a cost)
Drinks in evening (Alchoholic) were incredibly expensive @ 18 euros for a single JD - with no coke! but this really isn't a hotel or city you would stay in to sit in a bar and just waste away getting drunk...
One slightly unusual apsect to our room (we upgraded to superior) which was excellent in all respects other than we had no drawers to store away clothes - huge open wardrobe but nowhere for jumpers, Tshirts socks etc. Room itself and facilities great - huge loo / shower all very clean and felt like you were in a quality establishment.
The clientel were also lovely - clearly not a hotel that would attract 'undesirables' or loud trip spoiling oafs -everyone really decent, pleasant people.
The gym facility was also excellent and the curious layout of the current hotel is mixed with a very old hotel former building and on top of even older roman buildings (part excavated and visible in slected areas through reinforced glass floors - fascinating)
We also thought the entire city was very expensive - much more so than Rome - take plenty of euros / visa card!

Tips on city - See cathedral - utterly awesome architectural achievement with astoundign detail extrernally but surprisingly dull inside - albeit free entry (not the seperate Dome enterance - fee payable).
Go see Ponte Vechio (oldest bridge across river Arno) is quaint with little houses perched on side - most of which now house jewellery shops - new and antique - interesting and great if you want a vintage Maserati watch for 26,000 Euros!!. So many fabulous Piazza's and monuments it's hard to count.. great restaurants at many - great to just take in the fabulous atmosphere, people watch and enjoy the 'Italian' pace of life - wine expensive but generally good (circa 25-30euros a decent bottle of Chianti)
Recommend you book the Uffrezi gallery early - huge queues and avoid Italian holidays - we were there Friday 25th April - just manic - jammed to rafters with normal (large) amounts of Tourists but also double that Italian holidaymakers.... Go and enjoy another fabulous Italian City. Note they do not seem to start / end dinner so late in Florence as other Italian cities - we found many were starting to wind down at around 10.30 - 11pm... quite unusual.

Room Tip: Our room was at rear facing the Piazza Elizabetha (Tiny tiny little medieval square at rear of Hotel...

Historically, I have found it challenging to find great hotels in Italy. They certainly exist but, often, the websites and traveler reviews are misleading and I have been disappointed on multiple occasions. Not the case with Hotel Brunelleschi! You can feel 100% confident booking your stay here. The hotel is located 1 block from the Duomo (not 1 block from a view of the Duomo but 1 block, 3 minute walk to the actual Duomo). The rooms are spacious and elegant. The staff is professional and aims to exceed your expectations at every opportunity. We arrived at the hotel at 9:45 am (much earlier than check in time). The concierge, Paulu, greeted us warmly, decided to upgrade our deluxe room to a suite, led us to the hotel cafe and gave us internet access while we waited for our room to get ready. While sipping some beverages, an enormous plate of bread and cheese arrived at their offering. At approximately 11 am, Paulu personally escorted us to our room, which was a gorgeous suite with 4 poster bed and sitting room, complete with Jacuzzi tub and full coffee service, all while telling us about the history of the hotel and an offer to unlock the museum located in the basement for us to explore. When we needed train tickets printed, the staff obliged. When we came back to the hotel after a late evening around town, the staff opened up the restaurant so we could have one more glass of wine before retiring. My only complaint about the hotel is that our plans did not allow us to stay longer. Truly the best Italian experience I have ever had in any Italian city. We are already planning our next trip to Florence just so we can stay at Hotel Brunelleschi.

Excellent hotel and right in the heart of where you want to be in Florence. It's walking distance to everything from the Duomo to Palazzo Vecchio. The staff is extremely helpful and pleasant. It's surrounded by great Resturants and the most fashionable shopping.
The room we had was clean and somewhat spacious. The whole hotel is beautifully decorated. Very chic.
Stay there!

We stayed at the Hotel Brunelleschi for 3 nights to celebrate an anniversary and birthday. Left in our room upon checkin was a bottle of Prosecco and a note which was a nice touch. The hotel is well located within minutes of the main attractions however tucked away down a side street away from the crowds. The rooms are well proportioned with luxury linen fixtures and fittings, comfortable bed, we elected for a superior room on the executive level which was sufficient for a short break. ALL the staff were welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. "Paulo M " (maître de) deserves a mention, he went out of his way every day to speak with us and made an extra effort to make us and our stay extra special. Thank you Paulo :)
The hotel has a museum in the basement well worth a visit. The staff are very proud of the history connected with this fabulous building. This is the oldest standing building in florence and we feel privileged to have experienced. Breakfast was varied and a choice for all. The restaurant intimate and the food exceptional.
We hope one day to be able to return to florence if we do we wouldn't hesitate staying at the Brunelleschi.
