We stayed here for 2 nights at €80 euro a night (with city tax), which we thought was good value. It's great when breakfast is included for the price also. So close to everything, especially ideal being a 5 minute walk from the main train station. We couldn't fault the place for the price. Wi-fi is free and worked most of the time, which is always a plus for us!

We picked this hotel for one day stay in Florence. The hotel is very conveniently located about 5 min walk to the main attractions in the city as well as the train station.. The roads are a bit crowded and a bit creepy if you go into the small lanes at night but have been told its safe.. We had one of the best pizza's in Italy in a street across the hotel..
The rooms are a bit run down but clean. Breakfast room was a bit cramped but considering its in the central locality wasn't a surprise but the breakfast itself was just passable.. The staff is a bit tardy.. We had to wait for almost 10-15 min for a receipt of local taxes while the lady at the reception (middle age, don't remember name)completed all her calls and discussions with other staff.
Considering convenience and accessibility to main attractions its not a bad choice..

We found the staff to be very friendly especially the young dark haired girl who took care of breakfast every morning. She is an absolute delight. It is in a good location for sight seeing and the staff was very helpful showing us on maps places & locations we wanted to visit. They also helped book a tour for us to Castello Del Trebbio which we enjoyed immensely. The terrace on the third floor was very pretty & inviting. We weren't able to use it because of the rain, when it was sunny everything outside was still wet.
The elegant dark haired woman on the reception desk was very pleasant & helpful. One draw back was a very small shower with limited hot water & pressure. Another drawback was lack of an American news channel which we had two of in Bovolino Calabria. Another drawback was our room was extremely cold because the heat was off 'because it was summer' per the porter. That made the room an uncomfortable stay for us which I found unacceptable. The temperatures in Florence were cool & rainy with sunshine inbetween. The extra blanket helped but we froze when we got up and got ready for the day. Needed a jacket or raincoat daily. Good hotel for the value & location, I would upgrade however on our next visit.

The Hotel Machiavelli Palace has a great location and provides good value. The building is old (aren't they all in Florence?) so it has plenty of history and feeling, but that is why we visit places like Florence. The staff are generally really helpful and try their best to assist when they can. Every second building in Florence is a 'Palace' so don't expect to meet too many Italian aristocrats, it is mostly travellers and tourists chilling out and taking in the views.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a terrace but make sure the staff understand what you are asking for, they don't all speak fluent english so communication needs to be a bit slower sometimes.

We picked this hotel mainly for its proximity to the main train station as we were arriving late at night by train. As well as being very close to the train station it is a quick walk away from all the major sites.

The hotel is not as polished as some other 3 star hotels along the same street, the room we had, definitely needed an update and a better AC unit as the one we had did not seem to do much apart from being noisy and having a super bright blue LED that had to be covered so we could sleep. We opened the balcony door to cool the room in the evenings but could not leave it open at night as the balcony is shared between three rooms.

The beds are the most basic you can think of and were the worst amongst the three different hotels in three different cities in Italy we stayed at, all of them 3 star hotels.

Bathroom was clean and well functioning but shower area is extremely tight.

Front desk staff are effective. They helped us book a Tuscan country side tour (Walkabout Florence) and reserved Uffizi Gallery tickets for us. The Uffizi tickets came out to 18 Euros/each, so if you are better prepared then us you should do your own reserving online before showing up to Florence which should save you some money.

Breakfast area is large enough that you do not have to wait to get a seat. They do make a good espresso if you ask, otherwise you have a large made to order machine for your morning drink. The breakfast pastries are made on site so the hotel is filled with a great aroma in the mornings.

Room Tip: The elevator is slow and small for a hotel this size which could mean you wait a while if you are in the higher floor rooms. Room 405-406-407 have large balconies but no privacy from each other.
