We found this hotel to be very clean and comfortable (except for the hard beds!). Excellent breakfast and plenty of choice. Very good restaurant across the street "There is a difference".
Also good coffee and ice cream at the Bermuda Triangle.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Machiavelli for our week stay in Florence. The hotel was very clean, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were greeted on our first night upon arriving at our room with a lovely fruit basket and then two days later with a lovely bottle of Chianti. This was a lovely surprise to see after a long day of walking around town. Breakfast was included daily however we never took advantage of it as we fell in love with a local cafe and had to get our daily pastries. Overall, we have nothing but positive things to say about Hotel Machiavelli. We plan on going back and staying there again. The location is perfect and so central to everything. A few suggestions though, have more people on staff at night, keep the 3rd floor terrace(not a rooftop like it is said on the website) open longer, and have someone at the bar as we had to wait for someone to give us a drink and they never did. Those are really the only "negatives" if you can call it that. If you go to Florence definitely stay here!

We stayed for three nights beginning October, roof terrace was not open for "safety reasons"? But this did not affect us as we had a 4th floor room with Balcony overlooking the Duomo and Central Market. Great location for access to the sights and from the Railway station if arriving by train as we did from Pisa Airport. Staff were excellent and we found the breakfast to be brilliant and can't understand other reviewers complaints. The price for our room by Florence standards was very good and we would highly recommend this Hotel in the 3 star catagory

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room if only to allow smoking views from some of them are super.

The location of the hotel can't be beat. It is within walking distance of all the locations a traveller would need. The hotel's complimentary breakfast could use a little more "taste" and selection, but still a good way to start the day. The rooms are small and beds are typical of Italy - hard. The staff was very helpful in all questions and requests made to them. Even though their command of the English language was a little rough at times and my Italian (or lack there of) caused moments of confusion, all was taken care of in the end to our satisfaction. Price was also more than reasonable. We would definitely consider this hotel when returning to Florence.

Room Tip: Definitely stay in one of the rooms on the upper floors.

After reading reviews I requested a high floor and non smoking, and I suggest you do the same. Me and my two friends stayed here October 2012. Great location, near to all amenities like station and main square, nice and clean and spacious. I will say our bathroom was a little smelly but I think it's because of the Florence water. Breakfast was very continental, just bread, tea and cereal. But over all a nice B&B.

Room Tip: Request a high floor and non smoking

The hotel is a little tired, but the location is good. If you are taking the train into Florence, the train station is a short walk away- there is no need to get a cab. Everything is within a short walk from the hotel. We stayed with a group and got to see a few of the bedrooms- some are much smaller and tired then the others. The room I stayed in was a decent size and had an updated bathroom. WiFi was free, but hard to get reception.

The location of the hotel is very good. Near all the attractions, train and just at the side of the piedestrial street. THe breakfast is ok, but the coffe is not representative of the coffe in Italy. Need to be better.
