“Good value away from the noise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2010

Most of the tourist hotels are towards the market stretch which can be noisy. This is a quieter hotel away from the more touristy stretch. It is still in a convenient location which is just one street away from the bus/train station and on the other end, one street away from the river. This convenience allows you to pop by the river to enjoy sunsets which can be spectacular.

We found the hotel decor at the lobby to be dated but the room decor is relatively new while trying to retain an old world feel. This is unique from the usual modern decor seen in other hotels.

Nothing to complain about as its a clean and comfortable hotel for the price. Service was ok, nothing out of this world. We didn't drive but we saw ample parking lots for those with cars. Near the hotel are various amenities such a laundromat, internet cafe and various car rentals (Hertz is just next door).

Just back from a 5 night stay at the Grand Hotel Adriatico. We felt that this hotel offered very good value for money. It was spotlessly clean with bedding changed daily. The room was a good size and recently refurbished so in very good decorative order. Breakfast, although not the best choice, was adequate and the waiters were excellent, could not fault them. Unfortunately we did not read the information in our room and found out too late that we could have had tea making facilities in our room if we had asked. In terms of location, it is a very short walk from the station. This not only made it convenient for arriving and departing but also for the day trips we took by bus to Lucca and Siena. If you are looking to do these day trips, be aware that there are 2 bus stations located by the main station, one run by Sita and one by Lazzi. The information staff are extremely unhelpful but you will need Sita for Siena and Lazzi for Lucca. We ate very well in the evenings and on the 2 nights when we were just too tired to walk far, we went to Maso opposite the hotel which was very good, it does get quite busy. Otherwise I would recommend Baldovinos at Via San Giuseppe, a good 30 minute walk but excellent. Also try GROM for the best icecream ( Via Delle Oche). If I was to visit Florence again I would definately stay at the same hotel and I will be recommending it to friends.

We have been staying here for at least 5 years. The rooms, although not large, are well-equipped and our superior room had a small balcony with table/chairs and a superb shower. The beds are comfortable and we obtained excellent feather pillows on request. The car park is secure which is very important if you are driving and it is close to Santa Maria Novella Church and the station. The food is ok but not wonderful and could be improved. Plenty of small restaurants close by and the river is very close.

What a pleasant place to stay in Florence. I know, you're probably thinking why would you stay in a Best Western in Italy. Here are some of the reasons - comfort, cleanliness, location, great staff, immaculate rooms, but, most of all, you know what you're getting. After having had one REALLY bad hotel experience in Florence, this hotel is a breath of fresh air. Without a doubt this is where I'll always stay when I'm in Florence.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in Florence. We narrowed our hotel selection by those with parking first and then relied on reviews/pricing to do the rest. We are pretty pleased with our choice to stay here. The parking was a must for us. The hotel staff were quite friendly and able to conduct most business in English. The room was modest in size, but nicely decorated - a combination of plush/modern. One cool thing was the flat screen TV in the room was personalized to our name/account and you could change the language and select from a variety of services - including a wake-up call from the TV.

The bed was comfortable and we had a nicely equipped bathroom with shower, hairdryer and toiletries. The room contained a mini-bar and a safe. We had a view of the parking lot in the back yard, but it was fine and not noisy. Breakfast was great and we often ate it in the garden seating area. There was a selection of pastries, coffees, meats, cheeses, eggs, bacon, cereal, yogurt and tons of fresh fruit.

The hotel location leaves a little something to be desired - there weren't a ton of sites or restaurants immediately nearby. That said, Florence is an easy town to walk around in and we weren't far from the city center or Ponte Vecchio by foot. We did happen to eat at a Japanese restaurant on a nearby corner and found it to be quite good (not that many people go to Italy to have Japanese food, but we just wanted to change things up a bit).

My wife and I planned an anniversary trip to Florence and wanted a bit of no nonsense luxury. We got this. The hotel is easy to find from the bus terminus - we got the bus from the airport. The staff speak English and were friendly. I had asked for a room with a double bed and a balcony and we got that. The room was small - as is usually the case with European rooms. It was quiet, the air conditioning worked fine although a little noisy. Breakfast was good - plenty of it and high quality European, that is meats and cheeses. Some bacon and scrambled eggs but we avoided these and had selection of fruits, cakes and aforementioned meats and cheeses. We had to ask for a kettle and tea / coffee but they were eager to supply it. It is a ten minute walk to the centre and although located in a poorer area of Florence it was never intimidating at night. The restaurant 'Maso' immediately opposite hotel is cheap and good. But we also ate in city centre and had a good experience - in a breathtaking location. Overall I would rate the hotel highly and recommend it to friends - we would be happy to go back.

I chose this hotel for value and convenience on a one-night business trip to Florence. If you get a good deal and want a cheap, clean and reliable hotel in the city centre, this is the choice for you. As you will see from my other Florence review (of Grand Hotel St. Maria Novella), I have a clear favorite in this city.

Free and available parking in the backyard is a great advantage if you’re just passing by Florence with a car.
