“perfect location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

Rivoli is a very central hotel, five minutes from most places of interest. We had excellent service from all staff there. The superior rooms were a good size and the bathroom adequate.
The restaurant offered a 10% discount on the first meal which was good as the prices in Florence are exorbitant. We had an evening drink in the lounge which was very comfortable before going out to dinner and again when we came back which was most enjoyable. Nearby restaurants were very good and the one we tried twice was Le Martinicca.
Would I use this hotel again, most defiantly.

Room Tip: Definiantly go for a room with a balcony

A great place to stay when you are in Florence, Italy.

Spent two nights at the hotel and must say from the time we drove up front until the time we checked out the staff was friendly and hotel was clean. Then why are you wondering it was only rated Very Good. Well nothing in this world is perfect, but Hotel Rivoli comes close - very close.

There were the patches of the wall paper that were visible, the runner carpets on the stairs looked worn and needed cleaning, but the interior of the room and the hotel was clean and smelled fresh.

It is recommended that you take the upgraded room. Ours had a little terrace with a small table. Nice to sit outside in the warm weather and have a class of wine and chill out after a day of sightseeing.

The hotel does have a contract with a parking garage. They will take your car and delivery the car when you want. This is a great feature because you do not want to park on the street. The hotel is located in a residential area close to the train station and hence parking is permitted. If you do not have a permit expect a tickets. The Italian police love to ticket foreign vehicles in the area. Pay for the hotel parking as it is well worth the expense.

Being close to the train station and the neighborhood being very ethnic, it still is relatively safe. We experienced two incidents that made us uncomfortable but we still felt safe.

The hotel does allow pets and I would recommend that you request the first floor. Makes it easier to get in and out of the hotel with your pet.

One place to avoid at the hotel is the restaurant for dinner. We ate dinner there one time and one time was enough. The food was not that great. As one of the party members stated - she liked pate before she had it at the restaurant, but after eating it there it will take a while for them to get over the experience. The food was mediocre and seemed to have been prepared in advance so it was somewhat dry. You will have to have breakfast at the hotel restaurant which had a very good selection in the form of a buffet. The wait staff at breakfast was great and attentive.

Be prepared to pay for internet. WiFi costs Euro5.00 for 24 hours. Seems that the lesser expensive hotels offer free WiFi but when you start getting into the four star hotels, they start charging.

Thumbs up to the desk and room staff of the hotel. You do your jobs well and should be proud. You deserve to be applauded.

Room Tip: Take the upgraded room when the weather is nice. Traveling with a pet, ask for the first floor.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Rivoli for 3 nights having fled from the Venice high tides. The public areas have character as it was originally a convent centuries ago. The rooms are smallish but well appointed - comfortable beds with lovely bedding. I particularly liked the bathroom. Again,it was small but had heated floors and heated towel rack with lots of nice towels. There was a tiny balcony, which,in better weather would have been lovely. There are courtyards and a whirlpool but again the weather precluded our use of these. The breakfast was generous with lots of choice. With the exception of one waitress, who seemed to think one cup of coffee should be enough, the service was good. The front desk staff were wonderful and spoke excellent English. There was a charge for WIFi but it worked well and it was not too expensive. The front entrance is very deceiving - a delightful experience awaits beyond. I lost an earring and the staff went out of their way to help me find it. (unfortunately we did not find it - probably lost it outside). Thanks again to the desk and housekeeping staff.

I have been here with my girlfriend and we spent really good time. There is a small pool outside in the middle of the hotel with hot water, really fantastic in winter. The rooms are clean and beatiful, service is good and continental breakfast is rich and delicious;)
The position is good, one minute by foot from the SMN station and ten minutes walking from the most interest places in Florence.
Have a nice time.

I reviewed Tripavisor prior to booking this hotel, and I am a Platinum at Best Western, so when I can stay at one, I do, earn the points to stay free at others, like I am now in Lucca, Italy. When we drove up to the hotel, I was not sure, kind of old and dirty looking from the outside. Once inside, it is very nice, not a 5 star, but clean and for the most part, all were friendly. The receptionist, Massimmilo, was very nice. The room was nice, usual type of European stuff-sparse, but clean and all we needed. The breakfast was good, help there was not as friendly as front desk. Most people we met at the hotel were from North America, so would recommend. It was close to the train station and not that far from the main attractions of Florence. Good restuarants very close also.

I stayed there for 2 weeks.

Location : Not in touristy area but 5 minutes walk to the Santa Maria Novella station and Sita bus depot.
Rooms : Very small and even smaller bathrooms but may be because of it's location in the city center. So, are the passages. The beds were not so comfortable and blankets not enough.I could also hear sounds from the other rooms.
Food : Good breakfast. I also had a good dinner at the hotel restuarant.
Service : Courteous and helpful staff. One of the best services I have seen in Florence hotels.
Hotel : It is carpeted and is beautifully decorted with a small little garden bar and area inside.

WIFI and laundry services could be cheaper.
Would like to be back just because of the good service.

We enjoyed our stay in the Rivoli hotel very much. It's located next to Firenze S.M.N. and only a few steps from the Centro Storico and the Arno river. The hotel is a collection of four or five old palazzi, thus reaching rooms is all but straightforward, stairs small; however, there are lifts and rooms are constantly renovated. Ours looked like a junior suite but was normal size.

Staff is very friendly and helpful and breakfast is exceptional, not only for Italy.
