“Sleep In the car if this is the only place to stay!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

We booked our 3 night stay through Booking.com. It was a non-refundable site but the pics online were so impressive we booked it. I am not sure what hotel they photographed for the ad but it was not the one at which we stayed. When we expressed our surprise at the difference the manager as much as told us too bad - its non-refundable. We stayed 1 night. The A/C worked intermittently; the breakfast buffet had rotted fruit and mold on the pastry. We would rather it cost us $440 than to stay another night in this hell-hole.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere.

Dear Mrs Raymond,

I am sorry but I absolutely cannot accept your review, for many reasons:

1) Your reservation. Booked a standard room, but you were claiming a deluxe room as you liked a picture seen on Booking.com of a deluxe room bathroom. Standard room pictures showed on Booking.com are different. You completely misunderstood, it is not our Hotel who sells and advertises a room category for a different one!
Everyone can go on any booking channel and check our hotel pictures category by category.

2) Upgraded in a deluxe triple room, available only for the first night (without any extra charge), proposed a change in another deluxe room for second night (still without extra charge).

3) Our food served for breakfast is all fresh, your mention of mould on the pastry is an incredible false... how could we serve mould to our Guests? Also, do you know Italy is one of the most severe country for food health and quality control? How could we do this? Every day we try to give services at our best, you have your right to disagree, but you do not have the right
to write we are fraudolent.

I Cannot accept any offensive comparison from our deluxe rooms and our hotel to your car, even if you are owing a Ferrari!!!

I consider your review as a way to show your disappointment for and expectation you had before your arrival; we tried to satisfy your claim at our best, even if you made the mistake and not us...our Staff has been polite and corteous at its best.

Last, but not least, you never said me any word about the refundable or not refundable rate...we only talked about changing your room. And we did it.

Like you, I too scoured each hotel review in Florence. I had passed over this hotel several times but finally with the recommendation of my wedding planner and its close proximity to the US Consulate, we booked. The location is great! It literally is one block to the Arno and US Consulate. It is within walking distance to points of interest. The Gilato place (I think it was called B Ice) is kiddy corner from the front door and was excellent! The staff was superb.

We stayed in 203 (facing the street). There was NO, ZERO, NADA noise on our midweek stay. Breakfast was ok.......not fabulous but enough to feed the family and get the day started. The AC was adequate.....not the polar blast we are use to in the USA but enough to sleep comfortably.

Room Tip: If you are traveling with kids know that a "TRIPPLE room" is what we in the US call a suit...

After arrival we checked into a suite of the hotel. The room was lavishly decorated, in true Florentile style. The room allowed for a pleasant stay. Unfortunately, the breakfast was of such a poor quality, that we won't go back... We had burnt dolce, dried out eggs, and terrible coffee. For several days in a row, not what you expect of a 4 star hotel.

- Good and Spacious Room.
- Bathroom very good and roomy as well.
- We got the room at a good price for the comfort. Great Value for Money.
- Relatively Calm Area but services available nearby.
- Breakfast is well varied.
- Close Enough to Train Station.

The not so good:

- AC is a bit hidden by curtains. Make sure the curtains are not in front of it.
- You need 15 minutes of walk to get to the historic city center. But It is still well located and calmer.

Dear Guest,

You have been really kind with us, and really look forward to welcoming you to the Executive soon!
Just a little tip, for those who would like to avoid a 15 minutes walk from our hotel to Ponte Vecchio, you could easily cath a city bus (line D and line C3) which will take you just a few minutes.

Kindest regards

This was a lovely hotel with classy interiors, and our room especially was beautiful; very large, airy plenty of room and storage. The bathroom in particular was nice and large and plenty of room for all your bits and pieces. Great shower and both bathroom and room nice and clean.

Staff were very helpful especially as we had an issue with an aircon unit not working; they very swiftly got an engineer to resolve and when it resulted that a new part was required and it wasnt going to be a quick fix, they promptly provided us with a fan; which was perfect, in addition they discounted our stay for any inconvenience on the first day. I was more than happy with that response.

There was only 1 receptionist who was a bit poe faced and unhelpful when we had a situation with a missing room keycard; where we were promptly informed that we would need to find the missing card because there was only 1 card for our room...how helpful.

The breakfast room in the morning was lovely, bright and clean especially if you were able to snag one of the 3 tables in their outside courtyard. It was a very pleasant experience being surrounded by greenery and flowers whilst having your breakfast. Breakfast however was a bit basic but did the job to set you up for the day.

My only negative is we felt that the hotel although near to train station etc; it was a bit of a trek to the hub of activity, although there were some restaurants nearby you were perhaps a 20-25 walk to more popular venues.

I would recommend the hotel but only if you dont mind being in a quieter location and having a bit of a walk to more livlier areas.

We liked this hotel a lot it was in a quiet area but close to the river Arno and near to the station. The rooms were very comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff were lovely and I can recommend their own virgin olive oil which has won prizes. The bar opened in the evening from 7 pm till 10pm which allowed us to relax with a glass of wine before going out to eat.
The breakfast room was also nice, not much choice but the quality was good enough. There were lots of places to eat nearby.
If you are looking for a clean quiet place out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre then I would recommend this one.
Would stay there again.

Room Tip: As the hotel is in a quiet corner I don't think it would matter which rooms you have.

This hotel is quite grand when you walk in the first time. Nice lounge areas with soft furnishings etc. I asked for a triple bedded room but in fact got adjoining rooms. It was called the Donatella suite. I had a small single room with my own shower room. Unfortunately the shower was not only hopeless but failed to deliver any cold water and therefore was scorching to use so I used the bathroom in my sons adjoining room. I would have expected to see 2 single beds in their room but they were pushed together to make a king size. I don't know why they ask you what room option you desire when you book if they clearly can't deliver it. However the rooms were clean if a little dated but air conditioning worked great. Breakfast was good standard. Bacon & eggs on offer too but I felt the staff needed to be told when things were running short to get more rather than use their own initiative and the staff although I actually saw very few in 3 days didn't smile very much unfortunately. Free Internet was absolutely hopeless in the bedrooms and not a huge improvement when downstairs in the reception. Took me over 45 mins to accomplish something that would usually take 10 mins.
But all in all it was a fair and comfortable hotel in a good location. I don't think that I would use it again as there must be a lot of others with better services etc on offer.

Room Tip: I selected triple when booking but got adjoining double and single rooms which did serve the purpose...

Dear Ms Lorraine,

I thank you very much for your review. Quite honestly, we put great attention on bedding requirements, but many times we receive reservations made by booking channels without any detailed bedding info, I cannot guarantee if this would be the case or just our mistake. In case we are always at our Guests disposal if asked to change bedding.

We inform you also we just changed our wi-fi network, still for free, giving a better service.

Sincerely Yours,

Riccardo Cacioli, Manager
