“A waste of money”
Reviewed August 25, 2013 via mobile

Open top bus tours are great in Rome, London and other cities but in Florence , a complete waste of money. I wish we had just walked around and used the public buses to get up to the michaelangelo viewing point. You do not see anything from the open top bus. Yes it takes you close, but you see nothing at all from it. Save your money. Avoid it.

“Wonderful sights - but which ones are they??”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

It's your first time in Florence/Firenze. You want an overview of the city. You've been on HoHo buses in other cities and they have been wonderful. Why not do the same in this city? You get to see all of the sights, but with the travelog in this city, (as in Genoa) they give you a map to follow, but don't tell you which numbered stop you are looking at. The bus weaves in and out and around the same river multiple times - which building are they referring to at the side of the river? While the city was beautiful, I don't think I could look at a photo of anything and tell you the name of the site. But yes, a good price...

“City of Great architecture”

Florence is a of art and creativity. The statues and cathedrals are great monuments to look around. There are few good leather manufacturing factories here.

“Loved it!”

What a great way to see Florence. Definitely takes away all the hassle of searching for the sights yourself and you get an excellent commentary of the different sights as you pass them. My husband and I bought a one day pass and this was long enough for us to see everything we needed to see. The view from the hill over Florence is spectacular. Be sure to take the bus at night too. The lighting in the city is amazing and you get a whole different perspective of the area.

Brilliant - would definitely recommend.

“Great way to hop around seeing Florence”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

We first encountered the "On-Off Buses" in Barcelona, Spain and we are SOLD on this simple and very effective tourist experience.

The Florence On-Off Bus can be boarded at several stops all over Florence, but across from the main train station is the best location. We purchased a two day pass for about $30 Euro and had a ball!

The buses are double-decker with stairs that are easy to climb. Great shooting platforms for photographers. You climb aboard, get a pair of ear buds handed to you, find a seat and then plug your buds into the guided tour audio player by selecting the flag of your country or language. Easy!

In each city there is a minimum of two different routes and anywhere between 10-15 stops along the way. The best way to do it we found is to ride an entire route without getting off so you can learn about the history of the city. Then take a second trip and jump off at the stops you circled during your first trip around the city. The buses are great about picking you up every 15-30 mins. You just have to look at the bus schedule to know when.

In Florence, make sure that you take the two different routes that take you above the river and then the longer route that takes you way above the city and out into the hills outside Florence.

The On-Off Buses are one of the most interesting and informative attractions in any city where you find them. Cheap, efficient, educational, fun and kid friendly. Enjoy! Ciao.

If you found this review helpful, please let TripAdvisor know that I helped you out. Always nice to know if my work was worth the effort for you. Thanks!
