Description: "La Cucina del Garga" arrived on the Florence restaurant scene when Chef Alessandro Gargani returned from an 8 year run as Executive Chef in New York City's famous "Mezzogiorno Restaurant" in SOHO. It is there that he practiced his craft, honed his recipes and started his family. From an early age, his parents Sharon Oddson and Giuliano Gargani AKA "Il Garga" had instilled in him their passion for food and art. In 2010, he returned to his hometown to continue the family tradition born at The Trattoria in Via del Moro and then brought here to Via San Zanobi. The restaurant is an art gallery as well as showcase where talented local artists have the opportunity to show their work and customers can purchase paintings or sculptures to enrich their own private collections.

“Best steak ever”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Thank you La Cucina del Garga for a wonderful meal. The bistecca florentina was really cooked well and really tender. I'm not a huge a meat eater but you got me eating meat again! We also ordered a side of the warm beans which were absolutely yummy, can't wait to go home and try to cook them myself! I found the little appetizer (the little bread pieces with amazing red sugo) really yummy, you could have given me a plate of those to eat and I still would have given you 5 stars!!! Service was good. I would highly recommend this restaurant for meal you wouldn't be disappointed. Reservations recommended though.

“A truly special meal in Firenze”
Reviewed January 4, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I stayed in Tuscany for Christmas week and tried quite many famous restaurants around. This one really stands out in terms of food quality, service details and experience as a whole.

Chicken breast with creamy sauce is a main dish you shouldn't miss, but the lemon zest pasta easily catches everyone's eyeball and taste bud.

“It's ok but i'm not going back.”
Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

Great reviews on Tripadvisor and 2 mins walk from hotel, so I gave it a whirl, food was way too salty, the calamari & avocado was ok really no biggie, spaghetti sauce was way too salty, waitress highly recommended the veal steak but it was so so again, definitely I won't go back.

“A wonderful find in Florence”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

Terrific meal in Florence in this quirky yet perfectly run eatery. Chef trained by his father and hones his skills in New York before returning home. The menu is varied and very creative, while staying true to its Tuscan roots. Bisteca Fiorentine was perfectly cooked. Great meat with a good sear to seal in all the great juice and flavor. The past dish, was magnificent, a citrus/parmesan/brandy cream. Out of this world.
Service is professional without being familiar. Highest recommendation.
