Description: "La Cucina del Garga" arrived on the Florence restaurant scene when Chef Alessandro Gargani returned from an 8 year run as Executive Chef in New York City's famous "Mezzogiorno Restaurant" in SOHO. It is there that he practiced his craft, honed his recipes and started his family. From an early age, his parents Sharon Oddson and Giuliano Gargani AKA "Il Garga" had instilled in him their passion for food and art. In 2010, he returned to his hometown to continue the family tradition born at The Trattoria in Via del Moro and then brought here to Via San Zanobi. The restaurant is an art gallery as well as showcase where talented local artists have the opportunity to show their work and customers can purchase paintings or sculptures to enrich their own private collections.

“An almost perfect meal”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

We stumbled into Garga by mistake and we were really glad we did. The meal was delicious ... And the Chianti riserva was excellent. The decor is not at all what one would expect...very dynamic and fun. Our only complaint was the background noise. We couldn't figure out if it was a dishwasher, a pump or something else, but it was very intrusive.

“No wonder it is the Traveler's Choice”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

We had an incredible dinner. Service was superb, food was some of the best I have ever had, wine list was excellent. Decor and ambience were wonderful. What made this even better is that it was only one street away from our hotel.

“Incredible food”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

This was one of the best meals that we had in Italy. Everything we tried off the menu was incredible. Our favorite was the fettuccine with asparagus-it a great balance of flavors with truffle and garlic and the sauce was the perfect level of creaminess. I'm thankful that our B&B recommended this place to it as it is a restaurant to not miss if you are in Florence.

“Not to be missed!”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Most memorable dining experience in Florence - cool & edgy interior decorated with interesting artwork and quality food and service, particularly from the host.

The beef tenderloin with crunchy rosemary and Tuscan back bacon was melt-in-your-mouth oh so good and coming from a South American background we know our meat and this dish was fantastic! The Buffalo mozzarella with roasted bell peppers and balsamic reduction was also a stand-out as was their ravioli with the secret sauce. We didn't reserve a table and had to wait around 20minutes but it's probable best you book ahead so aren't disappointed.

Would have given La Cucina del Garga 5 out of 5 except that at times one of the waitresses was a bit unpleasant to deal with so we opted not to stick around for dessert - but the food was flawless!
