The luxury factor is modest but for a safe, clean room at a great location (close to trains, etc) this is the place. No elevator (which is probably common in Florence). The staff is very excellent! Went out of their way to carry our luggage to/from our room and to assist us with further travel arrangements. Enthusiastic & pleasant staff which is nice to see after a long day of walking & shopping. Florence also has awesome food. Unbelievable at the two places the front desk recommended. This place is a great value for the price. Thanks for the memories!

5 mins walk from Del duomo, 5 mins walk from Santa maria novella station (Florence's main train/bus station), friendly staff especially the receptionists, breakfast is just okey nothing fancy, They let us leave our luggage at the hotel for like half a day in our checkout day which is always something I appreciate.
It's a good value for money hotel with a great location

Just finished a 4 night stay at the Hotel Romagna and it was a good one. Room was a VERY basic one, very small and not amazingly furnished (for the first couple of nights I had no curtains and when some did appear they didn't meet in the middle, kinda defeating the point lol) bathroom again basic but clean, strange toilet/bidet setup and a shower that when used sprayed water everywhere so don't take your clothes in there to change after showering (I ended up taking my chances with the non-existent curtains to hide my modesty and when the hotel is on a main road this is not ideal!). Having said this it was cheap and you get what you pay for and for me it was all about location. Whilst being five mins from the SMN station it is also quite literally round the corner from the duomo I and on from that in either direction the pitti palace or the galleria academia (to name just 2 of the attractions nearby) The breakfast was typical continental with a good variety and plenty of it. Staff were very helpful and friendly, as was everybody I encountered in Florence! 2 Warnings however, the hotel is on a pretty busy street so If you are a light sleeper the rooms at the front of the hotel at least are not ideal. Secondly, the hotel is set over 5 floors, I was on the 4th and the stairs were a bit of a killer after a long day walking about in the sun...For must-sees outside Florence I recommend going to see Siena (gorgeous town). I took a tour (even though I am not generally a 'group tour' person) and had a really great day with lunch and wine tasting included, the guy at reception can help you out with that and there's brochures at the desk

Room Tip: SO many stairs, try to get a room on one of the lower floors. Plus the hotel is on a busy street so...

Learnt from previous reviews of Tripadvisor that there is no lift in the hotel. I had sent email to the hotel inquire if they could provide room in lower floor. When I arrived, they gave me 2/F and helped me to take my luggage. I booked a Economy Double Room. The room is clean and comfortable. It's near to Railway Station and Florence Duomo. It's really suitable for budget traveller and young couples.

Room Tip: Please note that there is no lift in the Hotel.

Firstly, Great helpful staff on reception and I can't fault them. The location is great but we wouldent recommend or stay again.

We booked this as a basic place on a budget to rest our heads and were not expecting anything more really than a comfortable place for 2 nights. The room we had (58) was far from comfortable, each morning I woke with sore throat and heavy hayfever symptoms. These cleared once out of the room. There was mould on the ceiling in the cornor which was possibly the cause of this.
The bed (double) was made from 2 singles or a single with a pull outsection but the bottom line is that the two singles were different heights which is not ideal for a couple!
Breakfast was sparce and basic selection of croissants, bread roles and cereal, both mornings we took a late breakfast but still 20 minutes before the end of breakfast. The first morning the bread rolls had gone and the second the croissants. We would have expected the food to be replaced not just to run out considering the basic and limited nature of it and that their was someone milling about. would try elsewhere next time.

After arriving at the last minute with problems with a booking at our original hotel the friendly staff were easily able to provide us a room during the busy Easter period without inflating the price dramatically.
The hotel manager, Disart, was exceptionally welcoming and friendly, as well as understanding of our predicament. He and and other desk staff we dealt with really are a credit to the hotel.
The rooms were clean, bed comfortable and our room quiet, looking into a cobblestone alley.
A nice inclusion in the room price is the breakfast buffet, which was more than sufficient and a great start to the day. Even though the official buffet start time was 8am it was always open earlier than this because staff had it ready early.
It was this relaxed, friendly, welcoming attitude that made our stay at the hotel very nice and enjoyable.

My family of 2 adults and 2 teenaged children stayed on the 4th floor quadruple room for 3 nights at the beginning of April 2013. We only had two weeks to plan our trip to Florence, Italy and we wanted lodging close to the main train station, Santa Maria Novella (aka SMN). We chose Hotel Romagna because of their location, quadruple room availability, positive Trip Advisor reviews, very prompt e-mail replies, and informative international telephone calls with the hotel staff. Hotel Romagna met our expectations for our stay. We knew before hand that this hotel had no lift (elevator), but the staff was very willing to help carry our luggage up and down the stairs. Desart and Alessandro at the front desk provided wonderful customer service and Marku patiently answered our questions on the telephone. Our very clean and quiet 4th floor quadruaple room provided enough space for the four of us with our luggage stategically placed within the room. The bed and pillow comfort was adequate. We had to get used to the narrow space of the bathroom which had a shower, but no bathtub. We did hear traffic noise from Via Panzani which was infrequent in the middle of the night. The weather during our stay was such that our room temperature felt comfortable for us without needing to adjust the heat or air conditioning. Breakfast, which was included in our room rate, was the same for all the mornings of our stay. The breakfast offerings were standard morning beverages, croissants, yogurt, slices of pound cake, cereal, fruit cocktail, and packaged crackers. The hotel was within walking distance to all of the famous Florence sights, museums, and restaurants. If we ever visit Florence, Italy again, we will definitely consider Hotel Romagna for potential lodging.

Room Tip: If you come into Florence by taxi, strike up a conversation with the driver and ask him if he has an...
