The location was great. We stayed there for one night and it was good for one night. The breakfast was good. The staff were nice and helpful. It is an old hotel though. I would recomend this place if you want to stay one night and be close to the center of Florece.

We booked this hotel as it was advertised as 4 stars, and we wanted a little bit of luxury during a three week caravaning holiday in northern Italy. We have stayed in many 4/5 star hotels in the past, and unfortunately this one does not match up to its advertised billing. We would give it 3 stars as a maximum.

However, and it is a big however, we really enjoyed our time staying there. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and very welcoming. One thing that we really appreciated, and I would highly recommend, was after a long hard day looking at the sights, we stumbled back to the hotel and was offered a tea or coffee by the receptionist. Normally we would decline and get back to the room and collapse, but we decided to stay in the beautifully cool reception/lounge and made ourselves a cup of tea; there were cakes and biscuits on offer, which we couldn't turn down, and so proceeded to enjoy a relaxing time just reading papers, and planning the next task: where to have dinner.

The room was reasonably appointed, with the usual features of a bed (which was enormous), and cupboards and drawers, a TV, and air conditioning, which was going most of the time we were there. The bathroom only had a shower, which was fine for us but might be a disappointment for others. When we arrived the room was clean and tidy and was welcoming. After our first night, and having used the two cups and tea and coffee making facilities, we were disappointed to find that the cups and sachets of tea and coffee were not cleaned or replaced during the following day. It seemed like there was only a cursery glance over the room and bathroom, with the bed being 'made' and the bathroom having the surfaces wiped over. This is not what I would have expected and was disappointing. I regularly stay in what are regarded as budget hotels in the UK (Premier Inn) and this would not be accepted there.

The breakfast was a buffet style with plenty to choose from, and plenty to eat! They seemed to cater for most tastes, from healthy fresh fruit salad to cooked scrambled eggs and sausages and beans (definately not Heinz!), there was toast and croissants as well as other pastries. In other words, a breakfast banquet.

To sum up, this hotel was good in parts and not so good in others; four stars it isn't, but then there are aspects that make up for the shortcomings. Would we stay there again? Yes! Don't expect luxury, but do expect homely comforts that make you feel happy.

We booked Hotel Art Atelier for the 2 days my husband and I were in Florence for our honeymoon. When we arrived we were told they were overbooked and they moved us to another hotel, Hotel Adler Cavalieri. Therefore, I can't speak for the rooms at Art Atelier, but the location was good and the lobby was nice (usually means they have nice rooms). The only consolation for our inconvenience was they paid for the taxi to the new hotel. Adler Cavalieri was further away from the main attractions than Art Atelier so we were very disappointed. I would not recommend this hotel or any of their other Florence properties.

The hotel gives excellent value for money.
Great location, just 5 minutes walk from the train station and public transportation. Located in the heart of San lorenzo market (leather and food) and next to Cappelle Medicee.
Our room was comfortable and spacious and the bathroom modern and clean. Breakfast is good.
Near the hotel you can find every thing you need - ATM, restaurants and supermarkets.
A very helpful and friendly staff.

The hotel was in a good location, walkable from the train station and close to the Duomo, Santa Maria Novella etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was nice and kept clean. The one thing I was particularly unhappy about was that our hot water cut out several times. We were in room 100 and the room had a separate boiler. This reset itself several times and each time the only fix was to get someone from reception to do this. To be fair when we complained they sorted it within 10-15 minutes but sometimes this was at inconvenient times when we wanted to leave the room soon. As it was 37 outside having a cold shower at 5pm when you get back from a days sight seeing a cold shower is a relief - in the morning before you go out less so!

When your paying over £100 pounds a night I do not expect to have any problems with having a hot shower and do not expect to have to complain about this more than once.

Apart from this the stay was pleasant and everything else was OK, breakfast was just above average.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 100, beware if you do too!

Stayed here recently for a long weekend. I'd go back tomorrow. Reasonable price and very central. 5 minute walk from Duomo etc. About 10 - 15 minute walk from main rail station. Bar prices cheap too! ( 3 euro for a small Morretti). friendly , helpful front desk and our room even had a small patio ! Room was on the small side but only used for sleep anyway....tooo much to go see ! Use with confidence.

We stayed at this hotel for one night while passing through Florence. It was probably the nicest hotel we stayed at in Europe. The hotel itself was attractively updated. The room was a good size with a good layout. The hotel had air conditioning and an elevator. The location was convenient - a close walk to the train station and major attractions such as the Duomo and Gallerie L'Academie. Our only complaint is that the breakfast was subpar. The coffee was dispensed from a machine and it didn't taste very good. Every other place we went to in Italy had excellent coffee prepared freshly. The juice was also dispensed from a machine, while other hotels offered fresh juice. The selection of items was limited - mostly meat and cheese. There was no bread for toast or any cereals.
