My wife and I had the pleasure of spending the day with Giulio Benuzzi, aka the Truffle Hunter, just last week. While the weather did not cooperate, it rained most of the day, we still were able to go truffle hunting. It was the best experience we had in what was an incredible vacation. Giulio is extremely knowledgeable about truffles as well as other food topics such as olive oil. We found 4 truffles! Actually his sweet truffle hunting dog found them, but we were right behind! We then went back to his villa where we were treated to a fabulous 4 course lunch by his wonderful wife, using the truffles that we gathered. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I would recommend it to everyone.

This is my first time writing a review on tripadvisor which is a testimony to how memorable this experience was. Despite the drizzly weather, we had a great time seeing how truffles are sniffed out and unearthed. Even better was to follow when we had a fantastic truffle lunch accompanied by great wine at an enchanting villa. Definitely recommended!!!

My daughter Sarah and I had a fantastic time with Giulio, his truffle hunting dog Eda, and Cristina. Giulio is very engaging person, and it was very enjoyable learning about truffle hunting and experiencing it with him (and, of course, Eda!). After a successful hunt, we returned to their beautiful home and Giulio showed us how to clean the truffles, and we then sampled several dishes prepared by Cristina, who is a wonderful chef ! Ask Giulio about the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar he is promoting - it is unbelievable!

The truffle hunt is in the hills through the woods, so you need to be in physical condition to handle that part. A great experience!

For our trip to Italy my husband and I wanted to explore Italy by not only going to the typical tourist attractions. We love truffles and I found Giulio's site offering a truffle hunting experience in the outskirts of Florence and loved the idea. Booking the excursion was super easy via email and it's about 15-20minutes from Florence. You get the opportunity to learn about truffles but also balsamic vinegars and olive oils, which is great, especially since Giulio is truly passionate about all those things. The hunting part was a ton of fun and his dog Edda is incredible, we got to experience what it actually means to be a truffle hunter and were rewarded by actually finding some! The meal made by Giulio's wife and matched with delicious slices of fresh truffle was an amazing end to the day. Note: the white bean soup was delicious. Great excursion, I would highly recommend giving it a try.

As part of a family reunion trip in Florence, my cousin organized a truffle hunting tour for a group of 6 of us. We did not know what to expect going into the day - but our truffle hunting experience with Giulio turned out to be one of the highlights of our Italy trip!!!

Giulio, his wife Cristina and their hunting dog Eda were amazing! Giulio welcomed us into his 'Truffle House' and gave us a brief history on the truffle industry, his experiences with it and answered any questions we had. From there we drove to an area not far from his house in the countryside and began hunting for truffles! Eda led the way and we all quietly followed and observed. This year unfortunately hasn't been great weather wise for truffles but we still managed to find a few of the smaller black truffles. The hunt took a bit over an hour.

We then returned back to Giulio's house and Cristina had an amazing 5 course 'truffle inspired' meal waiting for us! It was one of our favourite meals of our trip - and so authentic! Giulio also showed us how to clean/shave the truffles and we got to enjoy the freshest, most delicious truffles with our meal.

All in all, a truly unique and interesting tour and we absolutely loved it! The truffle industry is fascinating and we really enjoyed learning more about it and experiencing our first ever truffle hunt! Would highly recommend it! :)
