“Charming!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2013

Torre di Bellosguardo is a charming villa and although built centuries ago with formal design, it is very warm and welcoming. The view of the city of Florence is absolutely beautiful and well worth being out of the city itself. The staff is helpful, personable and very pleasant - wanting to do anything & everything to make your stay perfect. Although the weather was delightful during out stay, the spacious rooms and common areas would be a great place to relax during inclement weather or for those looking for a quiet retreat. If you don't have enough time in Italy to visit both Florence AND Tuscany, I recommend that you stay here and enjoy the delightfulness of both at the Torre di Bellosguardo.

Dear Guest,
How right you are! So many tourists rush through treasures and do not find the time and above all the peace of mind to really absorb and enjoy what they see. Thank you so much for your kind words. It was a privilege having you here and hope you will return one day.

We stayed for five days in this remarkable hotel overlooking Florence. A pampered experience. We loved the wonderful staff who took great care of us. They kindly left us to our own thoughts and made us feel welcome to explore this 12 and 15 century hotel. We spent hours walking and relaxing within the extensive grounds, swam in the pool, and had the opportunity to live as the nobles had in the past. The best view of Florence and a lovely unique space to stay. Bravo

We stayed five nights in this remarkable hotel and felt we had moved back in time and could almost enjoy the wonders of Florence without leaving our Torre. But of course we did explore, we hope, every corner of Florence on foot. The magnificent view of the city from our Room 9 was never the same, always sensational, weather notwithstanding. The hotel was not full and the unseasonable wet weather made outdoor activities at the hotel proper unavailable, but nonetheless all was wonderful, including our breakfast buffet (a treat) and the evening meals delivered by a local trattoria. Hotel Torre de Bellosguardo cannot but delight every visitor. As it did the poet Dante.

Room Tip: Room 9, Upper level, was superb

I don't know where to begin in praising this extraordinary establishment. As soon as you pass the front gate, you are faced with an exceptional view of Florence (the best of my trip to 'Firenze' to be honest). The historic part of florence is simply at your feet. This place is a a real museum: the reception hall contains wonderful frescoes of acts of charity painted by one of the Medici's favourites artists. Rooms are very spacious, charming and full equipped. The staff is more than friendly and keep my stay even more pleasant with a high level standard of service. Finally, I had the chance to meet the owner who is a wonderful person with a finest humour and style. I will be back for sure and definitely recommend this unforgettable place !! The swimming pool is also more than perfectly placed.. but I unfortunately not came at the best period to enjoy it.

I have attached a few photos of the state of the room I stayed in at this “hotel”. These pictures are geotagged, just in case the owner wants to question my honesty as he has done arrogantly to other reviewers. Every time he does this, and it is often, he violates Tripadvisor guidelines. Because reading the superlative comments of some guests whose standards, with all due respect, have to be different from mine and the very nasty and self-serving responses of the owner to truthful criticism, one might not believe how bad this place really is. It is not enough to rely on the beautiful view and neglect the rest.
Would you stay in a room:
with an old, stained and dirty carpet?
where the baseboards are literally coming off the walls?
that has a carpet covered plywood box spring for a bed?
where cheap and old curtains are left hanging unhooked?
where the frame of the bathroom mirror is rotting wood?
where a wooden beam directly above the bed is full of worm holes and leaves dusty particles to fall on your pillow?
where a suspicious bug was crawling on the pillow?
I’ll stop there, but that was my room.
As an interior designer it is in my nature to pay attention to detail. I have travelled a great deal and stayed in some of the best hotels of the world. I have never seen an alleged 4 star hotel so neglected as this one. It seems the management is trying to offer the least possible at the highest possible price. But again, let the pictures speak for themselves. And if the owner wants proof of their authenticity I can easily provide that plus proof of my stay at the hotel.
Contrary to the owner I have no other interest than to be helpful to fellow travellers who share my high standards.

Buongiorno e buona serea! We stayed for an entire week at Hotel Torre di Bellosguardo in Firenze in September 2013 and not only is Firenze our favorite city in the whole world, Hotel Torre di Bellosguardo was and is going to be one of our favorite places to stay. The experience was over the top and we will be back! We could not have had more genuine and gracious Hosts, everyone was at our service with great attention and care and we loved everything about this beautiful Hotel (Hard to call it a Hotel when it is really a Home with beautiful rooms and grounds). Hotel Torre di Bellosguardo has quite a bit of history and was a perfect location for our stay. We stayed in the Tower Suite with a 360 degree view of the city and surrounding countryside and the architecture and atmosphere along with the accommodations were fabulous. I don’t think there is a better view of the city highlighting the Duomo and historical sites before you than you can get anywhere else. Many reviews try to find pros and cons and compare to places where they have stayed before. We could not come up with any cons. I would certainly recommend Hotel Torre di Bellosguardo to anyone who would like to be treated to a special place and be treated as if they were the only guest. Thanks Hotel Torre di Bellosguardo for your attention to detail and to all the staff for being so pleasant. We truly enjoyed our stay. A very special thanks to: Sabrina, Roberto, Cosimo and Paolo who were perfect hosts, we were so busy with our day trips we did not get a chance to get everyone’s name that was at our disposal but a great big thanks to all. We did however have plenty of time to enjoy this “Home” and the surrounding grounds, took many walks down the path and into the city to the Ponte Vecchio and all Firenze has to offer (short walk and very peaceful and being just outside the main city center gives you a feel of the real Tuscany) The grounds have vineyards and olive trees and plenty of places to get lost in a most beautiful setting enjoying a truly authentic part of this most special city. Ciao! Steve and Sheri Pizzi

This was again an exceptionnal stay in Florence. one feels surronded by beauty, not only the unique stunning view but the lvingly tended gardens and extremely clean hotel. I felt totally at home and enjoyed every minute of my stay. After a delicious abundant breakfaston their romantic terrace. I loved taking the pretty path trough the olive groves and vineyards downto the city centre.

Room Tip: Room n°6 has a fantastic view
