Take a taxi to the top for around Euro 15 and then wander down after sunset through the streets for dinner. We were lucky enough to hear the monks for vespers which was a very special treat. Don't bother with the plaza below and come here instead for sunset! The shop which is open until 6.30pm does wonderful honey and herbal remedies.

We walked up to San Miniato early one morning while it was still cool and loved both the stunning views over Florence and the cool, calm interior of the church. The sacristry has nice frescoes on the walls and ceiling. Some of the Florentine sights become so busy that this peacefulness is lost, so the early start is really worth it. Go Mediterranean and take a siesta after lunch to compensate!

We cheated and got a taxi up a bit then walked a few flights of stairs, at the top - wow. One of the best views you'll see, it was so stunning and at twilight it's the best time to go. The church is stunning and very peaceful and dare I say it, spiritual. If you're thirsty and tired, go and buy a wee drink from the monk in the shop, one euro for a fanta - sorted! You need to go when you're in Florence .

worth the climb or get a taxi, you will not be disappointed. The interior is unspoilt and has some surprising objects and beautiful floor mosaics.

This was an awesome surprise for my husband and I. We were trying to find the Statue of David when a very nice local gentleman pointed us in the direction of this church. We were totally grateful for his guidance. We did not enter the church because we did not want to disturb those who were arriving for the mass service. However, we did tour the cemetery and grounds. The view of the city from the grounds of the church is spectacular!
