This spectacular museum has an awesome, beautiful, one of a kind collection of sculptures that relatively few people visit. It is often times lost in the shuffle of the other museums in Firenze but is a treasure that should not be missed.

This is really as important as the Uffizi for art history lovers. It contains Donatello's David and Verocchio's (sp?) David, as well as the competition door panels from the Baptistry, and several rooms of amazingly detailed reliquaries. A must see.

Houses some fascinating masterpieces--mostly sculptures from medieval times and I was very excited at the thought of seeing some more Michelangelo's pieces but sadly they were not on display then.

While traveling with teens in Florence, I had to make up for the trudge through the Uffizi I subjected them to, and all was forgiven after taking them to The Bargello. (Even the men loved it.) You can see everything in under 2 hours.
The Renaissance-towered building with the interior courtyard where executions took place is dark, foreboding, and a little scary when you imagine what conditions must have been like for the unfortunate ones.
The art collection includes Michelangelo sculptures, ceramic pottery, Della Robbia terra cotta, and Donatello's famous statue of David, as well as an old bronze cannon with the head of St Paul.
Kids or no kids, you'll love this place, I promise!
Buon viaggio!
