This is an amazing area of Florence. With the Cathedral of Santa Maria as the background take in all the beauty and be amazed that this was all built over 500 hundred years ago.

We booked a dumo climb for 9 in the morning because then the temperatures where low. It was not a hird climb up if you are used to mountain hiking, if not you can struggel a bit. At the top we got great views so it was really worth it. Also worth it seeing the fresco in the roof.
As my wife is the artist she was right into the Duomo, as for me it was just another place to get dragged around.
If your not into art i really don't see the point in visiting .
This whole area is very touristy, but you still have to go. The beauty is intoxicating. The restaurants behind the Duomo are pretty good. We had lunch at the one sit down place in the very back.
There is so much to see here. Find a place where you can safely stand and absorb the beauty and ingenuity of what you see. Go ahead, snap your pictures and get it out of your system, then just stand and look. Even my teen was drawn in!
What an amazing area surrounded by all the fab sights of Florence: Duomo, Campanie etc and the stunning architecture. yes it is crowded area but zone out and savour the experience.
