I wanted to write a quick review as we climbed the Duomo with our daughter who is only just 7 and it was amazing! A once in a life time experience. Don’t be put off taking younger children. I must confess that I was feeling extremely anxious about the climb to the top and the 463 steps (after reading reviews on here and people suggesting not to take children) and I’d almost talked us out of doing it altogether, but I needn’t have worried because it was absolutely fine. There was a couple of places to stop along the way and flat sections in between blocks of steps, where your legs could have a rest. My daughter loved it and to be honest, did far better than me and was racing off ahead - something she will remember for a very long time. Once at the top, you are rewarded with the most amazing views. They limit the numbers, so it didn’t feel like everyone was packed in (despite being Easter week).

This fantastic construction will leave you speechless! The Cathedral is magnificent, the entrance is free, but I recommend you to buy the tickets to skip the line since you will also have access to the Baptistery and the bell tower!
