There's a lot going on in this Piazza, but well worth it. Don't be distracted by the street vendors and the numerous tourist to get some really beautiful pictures. It's quite lovely!

This is the most spectacular place - look at the dome from every perspective and you will never finish to admire the different colored marble and the ornaments
Sorry, but words really can't do justice to Piazza del Duomo. When it comes to magnificent, glorious, colourful, eye-catching architecture, no other country in the world can hold a candle to Italy and this little square in the quaint city of Florence is possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
The square is barely big enough to contain the cathedral itself, never mind house a bell tower and a baptismal font as well. And all three buildings are exquisite.
Il Duomo itself is huge, beautifully detailed and finished in white, green and maroon marble to a level that is borderline gaudy and 100% stunning to behold.
Alongside it is the campanile, which is tall, slender, almost too narrow to accommodate it's height, finished to a similar standard and dominates the skyline.
And then there's the font, a classic octagonal dome, huge in girth with brass doors emblazoned with all manner of religious imagery (and, I believe, referred to as the "gates of heaven"). This doesn't feature any maroon, just the white and cream, and alongside it's two sisters, it looks dull, boring even. It's such a weird thing to comprehend, this gorgeous renaissance font, which would look incredible in any other city in the world, is made to look ordinary in these few square metres!
Even without this square, Florence is a beautiful city, but this one square elevates it to one of the places you really must see.
When you walk around the corner and see this group of buildings for the first time, they take your breath away and it is a wow moment. The beautiful black and white and architectural excellence is fantastic. I would go back again tomorrow. They are all lovely inside too.
Great sight shows another side of the awesome buildings The streets are very narrow but that what makes this such a unique place
If you can't find your friend in the piazza near the Uffitzi square, they probably are waiting for you here.
