This area is so beautiful and so typically European. Hundreds of years to build a cathedral...so hard for anyone in the states to understand something like this. Something that is hundreds of years old and took hundreds of years to build that is still standing and looks so beautiful and crowds come in huge mobs to see this work of art and beauty. We did not go inside, but, the outside is a work of art itself. People watching in this area is also interesting. Beware, there are barkers, like New Orleans, trying to pull you into restaurants and stores, etc. The restaurants add a cover charge to your bill which can be quite a shock at the end of the meal. A friendly warning for all of you non-european type travelers. They love to add service fees, and cover charges when Americans come into their establishments...thinking that we just don't know any better. Just beware where you eat, ask questions prior to sitting down, and look carefully at the menu to be sure you are charged the correct amount. You will be much happier when the bill comes.
