Owner description: Europe's first school of drawing, this museum of art is chiefly famous for its several sculptures by Michelangelo, notably his David, in addition to an extensive collection of 15th- and 16th-century paintings.

Truly the most single piece of beautiful sculpture anywhere. And I know its my opinion, but one that happy to share. Breathtaking...even from afar. The closer you approach you see how dazzlingly he is; from the soft left side, to hard eyes and furled brow on the left. Even been lucky to see the PIETA in Roma and that spiritual, this is awe inspiring. TRULY SPECTACULAR and that include anything in the Uffizzi.

The realistic details such as the facial expression, muscles, and veins make this statue so impressive. It was larger than I imaged in to be and was a truly impressive work of art.

A must see if you have the time. Do not bother with the skip the line as you must go at a specific half hour time slot. We also learned if you show your child's passport at most places it is free.

Call me cliché, but I sat down for a good two hours and sketched David in my notebook. It gave me the opportunity to just sit there and imagine how much consideration and methodology must have been needed to create such a beautiful peace of art. I could barely draw a pathetic doodle of him, how the heck did Michelangelo carve him out of a hunk of marble?!

Do not leave Florence without seeing Michelangelo's David at the Accademia. You see a copy in the Piazza Signoria--it's not the same. You will not be disappointed. My husband and I sat looking at it for an hour.
