It was very impressive to see David - I would say a must if in Florence. The rest of the Accademia was not that impressive. Perhaps because it we were there at the end of a long hot day. We visited in August and had pre-booked tickets by phone so we did not pay until we arrived. Our reservation was there and everything went smoothly. We also used Rick Steve's podcast tour guide. For us this was just the right amount of tour guide help. It allows us to move at our pace but slows us down long enough to learn about what we are seeing.

Awesome to see in real! Unbelievable that someone could have put so much life into stone. My daughter was suitably impressed and inspired. She found it difficult to believe that the statue was made so very many years ago.

We knew it was going to be awesome, but that just doesn't do it justice. It is spectacular to see and is a must if you are in Florence. We had a guide who did a fantastic job of explaining the story behind the statue which made it all that more interesting. We were so lucky to be there in December as I hear in the heavy tourist season you are lucky to get in at all.

Each time it simply takes one's breath away as it's so utterly sublime. When in Florence you have to go back & see it again and again or you simply forget the elegance, the encapsulating youth, simplicity and quiet confidence of purpose - it's genius. So moving.
