“Good and very central”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

Unpretentious but absolutely adequate and so central. Very friendly and helpful reception staff although we couldn't get WiFi to work despite la Signora's best efforts. Abundant breakfast. Rather small but adequate bathroom facilities. Not at all noisy despite a well-frequented street outside and slept well thanks to extra blanket provided. Great recommendation - thank you - for the nearby Ristorante Paoli. Would willingly return.

Overall this hotel was nice. There are flights of steps you have to carry your luggage up depending on where your room is, but you manage. Room was comfortable and clean, basic breakfast, average price. The location, however, was fanstastic. The duomo is directly to your left and the Uffizi gallery, Palazzo Vecchio and loggia to your right. If you are a light sleeper perhaps not the best pick as the campanile is right outside.

We were at Hotel Maxim several times during the last ten years.
Last time they also offered free Wi-Fi.
We chose this hotel due do its convenient price and its wonderful location.
It's indeed very close both to "Piazza della Signoria" and to "Piazza del Duomo".
If you have a car, it could be difficult to reach the hotel, because it's just in the historical center of Firenze.
If you travel by train, the main train station ("Santa Maria Novella") is 10 mins away walking.
A couple of negative remarks:
- During summer weekend nights from your bedroom you could hear the crowd shouting and laughing on the street;
- Don't expect a first class breakfast, bed, shower. The quality is Ok, but I wouldn't sleep there more than two nights.

Room Tip: Ask for a side room - the ones on the main street can be noisy.

We only spent one night in Florence at this hotel, but wish we had of spent more time here! Florence is a beautfiul city and this hotel is right in the heart of town. The hotel is directly above the Disney store. Although it starts on the third floor and goes up from there, the lift is useful and the rooms are great. The beds are comfortable and the room was very clean. There was ample space and the ensuite was adequate. We had a group of 24 English speaking school students on this tour and the reception staff were very friendly to us all and made us feel welcome. Breakfast was simple.

This hotel is a great bargain for budget travel to Florence. Incredible location, great breakfast, front desk service. Ask for interior rooms to avoid inevitable early morning garbage pickups and restaurant deliveries, late evening street noise of Florence. Enjoy the bells wherever you are!

the location is wonderful, 15 mins from the train station right on the main tourist street between the cathedral and Piazza Signoria. This being said, it can be a bit noisy outside and the windows don't do much for blocking the noise. Our room seemed old and outdated with dark paneling and furniture, like something from my grandmother's house. The shower had low water pressure and the towels had been bleached way too many times. The room had two windows, one with an old ratty curtain that kept most of the light out, and the other with a lace curtain and blinds that looked like it had been attacked by a cat too many times and did nothing to keep the light out. The internet was mediocre at best but the breakfast was decent with a selection of pastries, yogurt, cereals (tasted terrible) delicious hot chocolate and coffees. They charge a city tax of 2€/person/night which isn't included in the total price you find online.

Stayed here in October 2012 for two nights during our honeymoon. The room was large (for Italy) and the bathroom was clean. Breakfast was very good. Our toilet ran often and was difficult to flush. The noise from the street (or maybe it was just Florence itself!) was very loud and made it difficult for my wife to sleep.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the street or alley. Very, very loud at night.
