Owner description: This museum is like heaven to shoe buffs since it houses a collection of more than 10,000 shoes dating from the 1920s.

We visited this place as part of our fashion course. I found it very inspiring and fascinating. I liked the visual arrangement of the place. Fabulous shoes hanging from lanterns, great story of great shoemaker. You can see Iconic shoes made by Ferragamo, learn his story and love for shoes. Magical little place worth seeing whether you are a Fashionista or fashion laic at cost of € 6.

It is a very small museum and only a small part of the exhibition related to Salvatore Ferragamo. In my opinion, it does not worth the entry price, yet how interesting the museum is depends on the exhibit at the time.

Like many, I was disappointed with the lack of information about Salvatore Ferragamo himself and history of his work.

The exhibit at the time dealt with fairy tales, which was okay; the best part was the short film "inspired" by Salvatore. Overall, it was underwhelming and not worth the entry price and time considering all of the other museums and activities in Florence. However, this depends on a person's true interest in the brand and the exhibit at the time.

Despite being rather small, this museum is a must for shoe lovers. I took my mum who loved seeing shoes similar to those her mother wore and we really loved seeing the change in trends. As one other reviewer stated, it would be great if we learnt a little more about Ferragamo himself but in all, it is a delightful place to visit.

When we booked the Gallery Hotel Art, a Lungarno Collection property, which belongs to Salvatore Ferragamo we received free entrance to the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo beside some other perks. Normally entrance costs 6 Euro (ca. 7.90 USD).

The museum is located in the basement at the headquarters of Salvatore Ferragamo at Via dei Tornabuoni.

We were greeted friendly. In order to pay no entrance we had to show our key card and fill out a form.

The museum was entirely different than what we expected. There were some Salvatore Ferragamo shoes, designed by the master himself and some of his tools. The museum, though, evolves around myths, fables and fairytales and how shoes/shoemakers have influenced culture over the centuries.

There were video installations; one was inspired by Salvatore Ferragamo's autobiography, telling how he managed to make a pair of shoes for his sister without ever learning how to do it.

The museum is good, but in our opinion it has too few Salvatore Ferragamo designs exhibited and makes it difficult to learn something about the company's history.

We needed around 45 minutes to see the complete museum.

No photography is allowed in the museum.

Would we return? If the entrance is free, yes. Otherwise the price feels too high for what you get.

Would we visit this museum again? YES, But only when free or included in hotel package.
Would we recommend this museum to a friend? MAYBE!
