Palazzo Strozzi is a wonderful exhibition space at the heart of historic Florence. I visited the exhibtion on Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino, two Florentine painters of the 16th century that deserve wider recognition. Pontormo worked for the Medici Court in Florence, Rosso ended up in the court of France. The show concentrates on their work in Italy and exhibits works currently in out of the way churches, thus revealing Rosso as a great genius and visionary, easily to be recognised as one of the greatest painters of the final phase of the Italian Renaissance.

The construction of this status symbol of Strozzi Family started in 1498 and remained the seat of the family until 1937 with a 30 years pause when it was confiscated by Duke Cosimo I de Medici. It is a very symmetrical and harmonious building. It is hosting a unique exhibition of the masterpieces of Pontorno and Rosso Fiorentino and another modern exhibition Family matters, portraits and experiences of family today. Very interesting show that analyses family dynamics through photograph and videos. You'll leave the exhibition thinking about your own issues.

This Palazzo is one of the most important in Florentine history and well-preserved to boot.

The Palazzo is quintessential Florentine Renaissance architecture.

The interior sculptures, and cafe, are well worth a visit.

Palazzo Strossi is not only beautiful and worth visiting for its own - even just for a brief stop at the cafe - but you can be sure that any exhibition there is a must: so intelligently curated; always with a fascinating story to tell - and really meaningful engagement with its viewers. The current Pontormo and Rossi exhibition is simply stunning.
