Owner description: This is the richest medieval church in Florence, which features frescoes by Giotto, a chapel by Brunelleschi and one of the finest of all early Renaissance tombs.

this is one of the eldest big buildings, and the church is very beautiful. It gives honour to Michelangelo, Dante, Gallileo Gallilei and others. some beautiful chapels are worth seeing, because of the 'fresco' ceilings and walls and other most beautiful ornaments. There is also the cloiture garden en a museum with beautiful things.

Beautiful Church. Must see. Several historic tombs inside. Further away from the rest of the landmarks but easy Access walking from Piazza Signoria.

Great visit - enjoyed this a lot - some amazing paintings - lots of history - loved it.

Don't miss the side chapels - and the walkway to the leather school - enjoyed watch them make a bag!

Weather not great - but beautiful courtyard when the sun was shining.

My husband and I are not big on touring churches, but we really enjoyed being able to see the tombs of Michelangelo and Galileo. It's hard not to be impressed with the seeing the tombs of these famous people, as well as the beautiful interior of the church itself. We liked that there were not throngs of tourists everywhere and we had the chance to look around without feeling too crowded which is the case at many attractions. I would still recommend going as early as you can to avoid potential crowds, especially those large tour groups that take over!

We went to Santa Croce on advice of our tour guide, the previous day. The basilica is beautiful on the outside and on the inside it has the most incredible art work. When you think you’ve seen it all, there is another room! The surprise was the visit to the Scuola del Cuoio, where you can purchase traditional Florentine leather goods. You can also watch the craftsmen and women making items such as handbags, coasters with gold stamping, among others, all this inside the basilica.
