We visited here in early October 2013. The entry is covered with a Florence card to the museum and tower. We had read about the secret passages tour which we booked on line in advance as soon as the times became available for booking. As the numbers on this tour are limited, you have to book in advance or you may miss out on this and it was certainly worth doing to see the secret rooms with paintings that open as windows and doors and a climb above the main hall to see between the painted ceiling and the roof and how it was constructed. The museum has an eclectic mix of artifacts (amazing map room) - all interesting - and the climb to the tower was worth it for the views (248 steps to top).
